It is acting very unstable. Is there a program that can help me diagnose the problem?

I think you may need to provide a little more information in order to get help. Which version of Office are you running and which version of Windows? Any additional info you can provide about the actual problem would also help. "Unstable" doesn't really tell us anything.

Ok, I am terrible when it comes to descriptions but here goes...

The other day I ran a system scan and found I had "Open Candy" on my computer. One of the problems was that the virus is or was affecting other programs on my computer. CCleaner stays open in my Window Task Manager I have to manually turn it off. My paintshop pro is having pop ups and Word is not allowing me to alter any documents.

It sounds rather more than Open Candy. What antivirus and antimalware programs do you have installed, and have you updated them and run system scans? Oh, and btw you didn't answer either of my two questions.

    Question 1

Which version of Office are you running and which version of Windows?

Answer: Microsoft Office 2010 and Windows 7

    Question 2

What antivirus and anti malware programs do you have installed,
and have you updated them and run system scans?

Answer: Avast and then changed to ESET

I ran 3 or 4 system scans with Avast and received the message that said something like Threat: Open Candy....etc...

Then I ran ESET 2 or 3 times

    I then ran

    Hitman Pro and Rogue Killer

What do you need to know now.

    Thank you for helping.

    Hi

I am sure Earthling will come back about outlook but the first thing that jumps out is that you seem to be suggesting you have two anti-virus programs (Avast and ESET) installed on your system and that is a massive no-no. That alone can cause massive problems because they are competing to scan files.
If that is true, you need to cleanly uninstall one of them urgently.
It is best to use their official removal tools:
    ESET: http://support.eset.com/kb3527/?locale=en_US
    AVAST: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility

Yes, follow Max's advice to start with. Having two AV's may well be the primary cause of the instability you are experiencing. You have probably removed OpenCandy with your scans but if you continue seeing instability then install MalwareBytesAntiMalware and run a scan. That will find OpenCandy if it's still there, and any other PUPs, and give you the chance to remove it/them. MBAM will offer you the free trial of their paid version. If you don't want that then just uncheck it during installation.

    Hello Max,
Thanks for the advice. I removed Avast completely before I installed ESET. You are correct to point out the dangers of running two anti-virus programs. I feel so silly sometimes when I post on forums because conversations never flow naturally like they do in real life. Forum conversations feel so bumpy and drawn out. I do however, sincerely appreciate your kind advice and looking out for your neighbor friendliness. Really, it is kind. Asking for Computer Help is an intimidating process for me. I always feel like I am bothering people on the board. I feel more at home asking a redneck for help with my car than all of the tech folk here for help with my computer. Plus in real life and I cook someone a pan of brownies to show my gratitude.

    Hi

Never feel as if you are bothering people at all, no one would post a reply if the felt bothered or actually would not come to a forum, yes on drawn out convo as its not in person, as many of us are all in different countries, actually think all of us replying to you in this thread are from the UK.

But onto your issue, if you resolve the OpenCandy PUP/malware and have it removed, then the next thing you can do for Office 2010, is to go to Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features and click to highlight Office 2010, then at the menu you will see an option to Uninstall or Change, choose Change, then Repair, this will try and repair Office, then reboot and see how Office works.
