How Is The Weather?

California winter, Wifey and I went for a walk last night around 9 PM. Not even a jacket.
Now if we could only limit our numbers to equal our water supply.

 

We got 3 " Tuesday night. They cleared that off the roads Wednesday. Then we got about 4" early this morning and more snow coming tonight.

 

In 2009 we had a ice storm and power was off for over 2 weeks at my house and at some homes 4 weeks. It was miserable with single digit temperatures and 12" of snow. Hope to never see that again.

 

Thankfully, this particular one is missing us, and for once the lake effect snow has only been 1-3 inches a day instead of dumping a huge pile on us all at once. In fact, today it's warm enough the roof is dripping, although we won't get above freezing until after the weekend.

 

We're looking at 12-24" and between 1-3" per hour.

The shovel is by the door, the snow is outside, and I'm not leaving the house (or walking out the front door for that matter) until tomorrow morning...

P.S. Winds 30 MPH, gusting to 50 or 60. No sense in shoveling with the snow whipping about.

 

Forecast high today is 78 F. This time of year is the dry air. Lots of static electricity.

 

Currently about a foot and a half. My beamer definitely won't handle in this, so I'm stuck inside.

Slippers and pajamas > snow.

 

We were expecting up to a foot. Was upgraded to 2 feet last night.
Yep, Long Island! All grown up.

 

The most snow I have ever seen form a single snow storm was 48" and that was years ago in West Virginia.

 

On the one hand, I am happily living in the western part of the US and spared all the snow. On the other, my day job involves customer service for an online computer parts vendor who ships to everywhere. Including the affected areas.

No, we are not going to refund you what you paid for extra-fast shipping, because UPS doesn't refund us, since it was a weather delay.

Sure.

We didn't get as much as some, but a decent amount.

 

It's hot and terribly humid.
I'm drinking like a fish and sweating like a mineworker.
Feel free to send me lots of snow...

 

I remember when I grew up, snow like that was a normal winter. Of course, it arrived gradually over the course of a couple of months, not all in one weekend.

 

Not if the alternative is that the dog can't get out of the house at all. Then it's just plain self-preservation.

 

Couldn't handle living with a season of snow...it's great in winter to travel south during ski season...but that's it for me...so I admire those who live in areas with a "real season's" winter of snow.

Thanks. Gotta admit our SLSCs (Surf Life Saving Clubs) in Australia are conscious of our tourists' safety - many seeing and experiencing surf the first time; while also accommodating locals who seek out good surf. Now with shark attacks surprisingly on the rise these past few years shark alerts are catered as well.
