Why did F3 (Find Next) suddenly stop working in Notepad?

With the myriad of problems you are having, have you yet tried refreshing your OS?

I've has several small problems since my big problems were resolved a while back, but my recent content is mostly about me trying to learn. But a refresh might be a good idea. You had said recently that a refresh reinstalls Windows while preserving my personal files and settings. Is there anything else I should know / study first, or should I just do a refresh right now?

Always study/research on your own first.... even before asking questions; let alone acting. Why? Because of the "incidental learning" that occurs while researching.

A few points on the article cited:
Malware has been removed from my computer, thanks to MG. I HAVEN’T reinstalled my drivers, at least as of yet. And as I understand it, if I did a System Restore, I’ll lose whatever apps were installed since setting the latest Restore Point, no? But I think you want me to skip all that and go right to the reinstall, correct?
    Can’t I just disable them?
What should I read / study / look at beforehand to make sure I know about all of them?

System Restore and Windows Repair are 2 very different things.
The latter will repair Windows like a fresh installation, but your files (documents, music, pictures, videos) will not be lost. Most programs will be intact. I had to re-install only the Nero & Lexmark software, which is understandable, as they install files in the System32 folder, which were removed.

To be on the safe side, backup your files.

(Above is from my thread "Pups Apparently Associated With Unknown Temp Users".)
How to Repair a Corrupt Windows 7 Installation

Trying to put this all together, it sounds like a System Refresh is the same thing as a Repair / Reinstall / Repair Installation, but Should You Refresh, Reset, Restore, or Reinstall Windows? seems to suggests it's not. Any clarification would be appreciated.
I've backed up my data files, but not done a system backup, as I don't have sufficient room on the internal hard drive OR on the 1TB external hard drive (which I'll be returning and then getting a larger one).

Please disregard my previous post. That would result in me saving a disk image with a flawed OS. I'll repair Win7, make and save a disk image, and then upgrade to Win10.

    That's the way to go.
BTW I have deleted you previous post - you wanted it disregarded.

I'm sure you're busy, Eldon, but in the future, if you notice me about to make that kind of bone-headed blunder and you've got a moment to point it out, I certainly won't take offense.
