Kestrel that camera is priced form $180 to $230 here in the USA. Might be able to catch a deal if it goes on sale.

Is that Azaelia's Imandy Mann? Lovely colour, so very vibrant!!
Well katkat, I hope you do, it's a wonderful little cam, lightweight to carry round your neck, and you can shoot on auto mode or manual. And at least you've seen many samples of what it is capable of.
Daffodils everywhere here, too.... and Crocus, and Bluebells will be next....

My daffodils sprouted, but they're only about four inches tall. This afternoon I saw one lone crocus sprout about an inch tall. Other than that, My whole yard is still covered in snow.

This was a quick and dirty shot with my phone a couple of days ago, taken about 90 seconds after I got up from that exact spot on the couch. Damn dog. lol

One from yesterday at a wildlife preserve about an hour from me. Tens of thousands of snow geese migrating pass through here at this time of year. :

Yes azaelias. Have others coming into bloom now. Peach trees have good blooms - pinkish. Oranges are full of buds ready to open, Blueberry also full of buds. We have to get the blueberries before the birds cuz they love them.

Eldon those are both beautiful photographs in their own right.... jeez! I absolutely love Hydrangea, it makes for such a lovely picture. I believe they change colour dependant upon the soil type.

The second shot is gorgeous.... that calm blue sky.... the fascinating soft clouds (wonder what type they are) and the darkness of the houses and the trees sets it all off so well. Thanks for sharing!

    Thanks!
And you're right about the Hydrangea. The acidity/alkalinity of the soil determines the colour. Pink/purple/blue/white colours are all dependent on the soil.

LOL :D I'm full of it! I'm running with a Canon Powershot SX510 HS. It's a bridge cam so the lens is fixed. It has a 30x optical zoom. I'm quite fortunate alot of the times with birds as I am 'friends' with them and feed them most days up at the local cemetery. Even the Crows are wanting feeding now!! lol Thanks CP!

Impressive - I have a 5d and I dont even want to guess at the cost of a 30x lens for it. Yowza. I was looking at some fixed telephotos a while ago but they are huge and who wants to carry that around. Does it shoot raw?

    Hi CP!

What lens do you currently use? So you got a full DSLR then...! I want a DSLR one day, but the weight of it does deter me actually. I'm with you, I don't want to be lugging stuff about, it becomes too much of a chore then! My cam does not shoot RAW. Here is a good review of it with lots of tech details I don't understand entirely :D

Think if you get a cheap deal on the likes of godaddy and either go blog/website or wordpress and you will be fine, I went wordpress and a blog and its a great way to put out to the world your works, and if you want you can get Wordpress free but it comes as a yourname.wordpress.com URL. I went with http://gobbledgeek.com/ a play one words and something I need to really update as the name is neat, well I think anyways.

Try and get a neat domain name as its worth weight in gold. Mine folks have asked to buy it many times, not for sale as I love it.

For now, I'd go with a website that is for Photographers. I use Smugmug. You can set it so they aren't right clickable and you can opt to upload smaller images. I'm sure there's a bunch out there. They will also set up the sales stuff for you so you can go through them to sell if you want.

We visited a little farm typed place yesterday. All sorts of animals there including this gorgeous, friendly, female Turkey. She was absolutely loving all the fuss we gave to her. She actually came over to us, dropped her wings and stayed put whilst we all stroked and petted her. She felt so soft and silky, but strong, too.

Here she is in all her glory.... :)

Taken on a Canon EOD 100d (SLR) borrowed from a friend.

Thanks Kestrel13!, I haven't had time (or fast enough internet) to view the whole topic. I was wondering what your favorite theme or subject matter is?

For me, I have been shooting pics of beautiful landscapes and have traveled bunches. Pentax K1000 in the past, but now have a nice Panasonic slr but the cell phone is always there and ready, lol. As of late I take pics of my bikes in remote or interesting locations.

    Hi Mag00

My favourite subject matter is birds, but I love nature in general. I will shoot random things too, and people. Your SLR sounds lovely.
I roll with a Bridge camera, a Canon Powershot SX510 HS. But currently a friend has kindly loaned me his SLR (Canon EOS100d) Thoroughly enjoying that I have to say.

Was going through my HDD/SSDs for tidying up and folder of some pics of mine and these of an iconic part of my home city Liverpool stood out for inclusion to this thread

Albert Dock - has a history of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albert_Dock many bars and restaurants now house in the old warehouses of the dock, so great for nightlife.

Some of the speckles maybe dust as I did take this on film and scan it many years back could do with digital enhancement at some point. I could have said I got some stars in focus on a clear night though!

Next is also iconic as its Port of Liverpool building https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Liver_Building with its famous Liver Birds or one of them and the clock, across the road from that is the White Star Building (Albion House), which the Titanic's shipping company was based.

    Hi Emms

It was a Fuji GW690, I had this for 5yrs and great camera, sort of lost interest in pro photography to just use smartphone cameras and my WP10 has a 16MP camera and takes great pics, moved to digital Fuji S Pro series, then to as mentioned smartphones as they are getting better, do not beat digital SLR mind.

    Both are over 20yrs old.

I did work in a private photo studio for 5yrs then Kodak for 6yrs in photo-processing before I took a drastic change to ophthalmology medicine and imaging

Thats a pity on RAW images as they are the best quality, but I can see why as size would eat server space quickly, we have this issue in work with retinal images and OCT scans.

Correct. I shoot RAW and then process from there since you don't degrade the image that way as you edit it. But no, you can't post it anywhere in RAW format. I'm pretty sure you can't even print a RAW image.
