The casserole looks yummy, like potpie filling.

Crispy duck and pancakes, with sides of fries, salad, noodles and bean-sprouts all washed down with pinot grigio.

For the wine lovers among us

I already knew that you have red wine with red meat, and the more flavor the meat has the more robust the wine should be, however, I can never remember the details. Since I've found a pretty good guide, I'm sharing it here.

And grudgingly investing in a Merlot or two for the next time The Guy cooks steaks.

Jeez, that sounds good. Duck is one of my all time favorites.

My daughter is headed back to school tomorrow so I am making her choice of Steamed clams in a garlic/butter broth as a starter and then Steamed Snow crab legs, (Shad Roe for me :D) and roasted Broccoli.

    That sounds delicious!

I'm cooking a prime rib roast for dinner because The Guy and I decided that tonight is a special occasion. We haven't quite decided yet what exactly it is that makes it special, but we're in agreement that we can figure that out later. :)

Prime rib is one of my other all time favorites...although it's a toss up for me on whether I like it as the Prime Rib roast or a Ribeye steak on the grill.

Enjoy! When you are spending a night in eating a great meal with someone you love, who needs a special occasion.:)

Sgt Tibbs - you have mentioned your blog at times and also mentioned diabetic diet - do you also know or post kidney friendly diets? Basically avoiding potassium and phophourus which is hard to avoid in normal dinners.

Sorry, that's not one of the things I have to pay attention to. Mom's pre-diabetic with high blood pressure and borderline high cholesterol, but everything else is fine. I am seeing a lot more recipes posting potassium in the nutrition information, though, so at least you can see if it'll work for you like I do with the carbs.

After working out, I then had me a Prime Time Snack of some Tostadas Chips with some ... well, with allergies right now I can't handle Salsa lest I go into a coughing fit. So, I just mixed some Tomato Sauce & Horseradish Sauce. Oh yeah, and the Baloney & Cheese sandwich and 3 Oatmeal cookies.

The Desert, dessert. They are not in season right now. This was the first ones I ever tried, they grow in my yard. Next time, I will try to make jam/jelly. The seeds are tiny and many, but uber sweet. They will stain you real good too if not careful.

Desert Decadence makes a prickly pear tea, real good stuff.
