    Hi,

I wasn't sure which topic to post in since it's related with both iTunes and the iPhone, my apologies if this isn't the correct place.

Now to the question in hand, basically I bought a iPhone 6s (brand new, not 2nd hand) while I was on holidays. When I turned it on, I was able to connect it through my uncles' laptop and do the setup thingy new iPhones go through. A day after, I was still able to add music to my iPhone through the laptops' iTunes. A week after, I remembered that I did not add my custom tones so I connected it and it was still working. However, in the past week, connecting the iPhone to the laptop does absolutely nothing on iTunes.

However, on 'My Computer', the device is showing. Before, when I connected the phone to my laptop, I would have to unlock my phone to then choose whether to trust the computer or not. Now, instead of the trust question, it asked me if I want to allow or not the access to the photos/videos.

I've tried numerous things seen on websites/youtube and such. Asking on apple support website is even worse since they censor your posts if there's any negative criticism about their shitty softwares like iTunes. None of them worked.

I'm going to list and breakdown what I've done as well as my specs so it'll be easier to assist me.

    Hardware
    -iPhone 6s
    -Lenovo ideapad 300

    Software
    -OSX 9.3
    -Windows 10.1
    -iTunes 12.3.3

    What I've done so far
-Try different USB cables, originals and/or cheap one
    -Try different USB inputs
-Hard and soft resetting the iPhone
    -Resetting the laptop
-Check software versions on both phone and iTunes to see if up-to-date
    -Check for updates on Windows
-Updating drivers on Device Manager for the Apple device (it's up-to-date)
-Resetting/Stopping & Starting 'Apple Mobile Device Service' on Services
-Resetting Location & Privacy on iPhones' General Settings

I don't know what to do and Apple Support are being big arseholes about it.

    Thank you for reading
    Best regards,
    Gabriel

Hi...sorry to hear you are having issues with your phone.

I was just wondering if you are now trying to connect this phone to a different laptop now as you mentioned setting it up on your uncles laptop and I'm assuming also his iTunes.

When you say hard reset, did you select the option to Erase all Contact and Settings, or just Reset all Settings?

Hi, thank you for your reply.
I did not try to connect to another computer yet, since I'm on holidays, I do not have much choice and use my uncles' laptop as I own a desktop back home.

Hard reset is pressing both home and on/off button for 10 secs and it does a hard reset, a soft reset is just turning the phone off and on again.

    Cheers!

That's actually still a Soft Reset and won't do anything for you with issues like you are having. That's good for basic issues like if your phone is frozen, not ringing, etc. It's basically just rebooting your phone.

To do a 'hard' reset, you must go into Settings > General > Scroll to bottom > Reset

It will give you two options. You can try the first one (Reset All Settings) which will leave all your personal data on the phone, but will reset things like Ringtone, Sound, Display.

The next one is the one I would try since you just got the phone and may not have a ton loaded on there yet: Erase All Content and Settings. That will basically take the phone back to when you started.

I'd also look at all the apps you installed and do a search for them online as one may be creating your issue.

I'm really not comfortable resetting my iphone as I'll lose all the photos I took while I'm here on holiday, as well as the little music I have on the phone. I tried my previous phone, iPhone 5 which also did not show on iTunes. But I reset all settings on the iPhone 5 and it's still not showing up on iTunes.

I would try removing your iphones as registered devices from iTunes: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204074

Then Uninstall itunes from the computer. Download the current version and reinstall. It sounds like there may be something corrupt in your current install.

Once you do that, try connecting your phone again.

Thanks, that sorta helped me, but I had to uninstall everything related to apple too, like bonjour and portable devices manager (or however it's called) etc, then reboot and reinstall itunes.

Now it's detecting my iphone ;)

Good to hear. It sounds like somewhere along the line something got corrupted. Glad you figured it out. :)

Yes, I just don't get why apple support forums sucks ass. You were able to help me in a few lines, all they did was censor my post and no help instead. Anyway, I'm happy I can hear more music than initially had. ;)
