I have somehow got my iphone and laptop pc synced. I have always received my email on both devises and been able to delete from one and message would remain on the other until I deleted there also. This is what I want. Certain messages I need on phone but not at home, and vise-versa. How can I get the old way back. PS, I also cannot send messages from my iphone (which is not a major problem since I can usually just text message.)

Can you think of anything I might try to not have my mail always telling me it is syncing?

Thanks to Major Greeks and it's user community, a great source of info for the older folks.

    Russ

It depends on your email service provider and what settings they have. I use gmail and if I delete a message on my phone when it is connected it doesn't appear when I log on with computer.

I have been with Comcast (email) forever. I have been with Sprint (cell) forever. And This laptop is well over a year old and was upgraded to Win 10 some time back. It is only in the past month that when I log in to email on laptop it says 'syncing' and then iPhone 5s and laptop have same messages. This is turning into a real pain as I always want current confirmations on my phone, but will delete long term ones, like for vacations next year etc. Those I want on my main computer (laptop). Is the overall idea that mail 'should be synced?' I know it may seem to be a pain to do the deletes twice, but the benefits far outweigh that inconvenience.

You could have a look on the Comcast email support pages.

It's the norm these days, whether you are using a web browser or an email client program. So deleting a message from either device will immediately remove it from the server, as Max has said, causing it also to be deleted from the other device if switched on. The only possible exception would be for (probably) the laptop being configured as a POP3 account rather than the more usual IMAP, though from what you have said that doesn't sound likely at all. There isn't and never has been an email configuration which would allow the behaviour you were previously experiencing so I suspect this must be a case of a change in the way your phone, when not using wifi, syncs with your ISP's server. However if your phone was using wifi when you had this behaviour, for me it's inexplicable.
