My internet speed went from 32Mbps download and 3 Mbps upload.
    To this

I have had Armstrong Cable for the last 15 year's and there internet service is very good. The only thing i hate is though they have a data cap at 235GB a month but if you go over that you only need to pay an extra 10 dollars on the bill.Which is very reasonable With TV and internet on that around 145 a month. They are much better in customer service than comcast.I had comcast once and never went back.I have had Dish net work and never went back.

On my side of US,PA east side Armstrong is the best i found that is the most reliable service.Out my way i could care less about the 10 over draft fee.Hell that is cheap com paired to most ISP.

Sorry to say if this seems like an ad but it's not.

Oh and i did not upgrade my package that i paid for they did the upgrade them self's they just keep getting better and better.

If I would like broadband, I will use Comcast. I could switch to a satellite provider for TV, but I'd still have to have Comcast for internet. So I stick with them. My TV package is one they don't even advertise, smaller than even basic, where I get channels 2-28 (also known as networks and about five other channels, if you don't count shopping, religious, and public access), do not have a box, have no on demand, no DVR capabilities, and it's the same quality digital service you'd get from an antenna. For that and their mid-tier internet package I pay just over $100 a month. But there's no monopoly! That would be illegal!

I have Optus cable and it is ok but not great. Currently (when I just tested) I have good dl speed but it often drops down to around 4MB/s which is unacceptable but this slow speed is still better than the best ADSL broadband in my area.
My upload speed is always slow and often is only 0.1MB/s :(
It costs AU$72/month and I have a 500GB data cap

In my area the fastest ADSL2+ is supposed to be about 8MB/s but my neighbour only gets 3MB/s at best and usually it is about 1.5MB/s. He can't change to Optus cable because he is locked in with a 3 year contract from his work using Dodo that combines 3 mobile phones a home phone and ADSL2+ internet with a 50GB cap :(

My 4G mobile phone has much better performance at 62MB/s but it is only a 5GB Telstra plan and costs a fortune at AU$90/month. Recently I was in hospital (again) and tethered my laptop to my phone and went over my 5GB cap by just over 1GB and it cost me an extra $380
I think Telstra have just released some new plans that are cheaper with bigger data caps and will be checking this out next week. If I can transfer my existing phone over without penalty I will definitely upgrade ;)

Seems hardware can affect the internet speed. This from dslreports speedtest page. My speed ~5m is limited by my wireless connection. Some may see better with faster equipment than they now have. Myself I could do better with a hot wire and faster hardware. Some day!

That's the best upload/download ratio (I guess that's what to call it) I've seen!

Korvorka yours is about average speed around 32 Gigs download.

That is like 6 times faster than the minimum needed for HD streaming.
Any issues on an XP wont have anything to do with those download speeds.
Speeds depend on geographical location, the type of connection and the supplier. There is no 'average' as such.

Virtually identical to mine, and I have no problem with any of that. Could be your hardware moreso than your internet... I don't know, but I would guess since you're running such an old machine on such an old OS that it's simply not up for the task. There's a noticeable difference between watching something on my laptop (under a year old) and watching something on my desktop (nearly six years old).

My connection is too slow, and I do not use flash so I use this site http://openspeedtest.com/

Something good web designers know is that you don't need flash and java and snoopware and spyware to make a good site.

Who is your carrier? I'm with boost and my speeds are already throttled because I only get 2gb at high speed, every extra gig is $5 or unlimited is $60/month.

Berfore it's throttled, it is faster than Cox cable.
