Tonight is all about free. I've got a coupon for a free burger & fries from Steak & Shake for my upcoming birthday, a coupon for buy one, get one free shakes (also from S&S), and enough left on a gift certificate that I can also buy dinner for the guy without having to spend a dime.

Kestrel when you eat the vegetarian diet what is your main source of protein?

Sgt Tibbs free can be a good thing. ;)

Tonight dinner was garlic roasted potatoes with grilled chicken breast.

Just finished munching. Started with a smoothie: banana, strawberry, apple, carrot, frozen mango, maca powder and chocolate protein powder, then finished off a chicken.

I've been paying attention to the veggie diets, and was curious what cauliflower cheese was. I once made a "Cheese" sauce dairy free using cashews and brewers yeast and lemon. It was ok, poured it over mushroom omelette. Didn't really taste like cheese as the recipe said.

But I have tried the Daiya veggie mozzarella in the omelettes and that is real good.

Change of plans, although still free. We had to work later than planned and were going to go over our meal time, so they fired up one of the concession stands and brought us fried chicken, cajun seasoned fries, and mini cheeseburgers. I didn't tell him he was originally going to get dinner when he picked me up... No sense disappointing him. ;)

I had a giant plate of leftover fries from last night's catering. This week has not been conducive to my creating anything in the kitchen.

I would of never thought to mix chocolate with a fruit and veggie smoothie. Was it good? What brand of protein powder do you use?

  19. mag00

    mag00 Sergeant

Have you ever had chocolate dipped strawberries? MMM. Chocolate french fries? MMM

The protein powder I use is from Costco, Orgain® plant (pea) based with stevia. I actually like it better than vanilla powder. It not only adds protein, but texture/consistency to the smoothie. Sometimes I add vanilla extract, cinnamon and nutmeg, depending on the blend. I heard adding a bit a cayenne pepper to chocolate deserts can make it pop, never tried it.

Cilantro works well in smoothies too.

I had to really cut back and/or quit dairy and wheat/gluten. You really don't comprehend how much of that is in the "American" diet.

MagOO I looked Orgain Protien Powder up and there are many different varieties of this stuff.
Not sure which one to pick. I would be using it for an occasional meal replacement. There is one called Orgain Organic Meal All-in-One Nutrition, so I assume that would be the right choice. This is all new to me. Any suggestions?

Chocolate with chili powder is amazing! Whenever I'm feeling like I can afford to spring $3+ for a chocolate bar, these are the first thing I buy. Yum!

Get a Nutri Bullet. The one on the left
    https://www.nutribullet.com/rebrand/img/nutribullets-alt.jpg

It is small, easy to use and clean and does a great job. You mix up enough for one meal or serving, and it cleans up fast and easy, and does not take up much counter space. Just make sure you screw the lid on tight.

Does anybody have a recipe for a bacon smoothie? :D

  41. mag00

    mag00 Sergeant

You could make a hot smoothie. My brother does it all the time using asparagus etc.

So fry up or bake some bacon to crispy. Then toss in some veggies like asparagus and cabbage, carrots maybe even cook or par boil the veggies, add in a can of mushroom soup and a half pound of bacon.

    Dang that sounds good.

Just think, even after you get old and lose all your teeth you would still be able to eat/drink these tasty delights.

I had a plan for dinner, wrote two new recipes last night and everything. And then when I was telling my mother about them she wrinkled her nose and said she guessed she could eat a Hot Pocket, so apparently I'll be making a new plan.
Unless maybe one of you wants to come over for pizza casserole with marinated green bean salad on the side? Because I still think it sounds amazing.

Being a picky eater and reading what pleases other people to eat often amuses me.;)
It is that time of year that we do a lot of cooking on the gas grill. Now if it would just stop raining every day so I could enjoy being out there.:( I have a pork tenderloin in the freezer that I would like to slow cook on the grill along with some roasted veggies.
