    I have a problem trying to access a number of websites in Portable Google Chrome version 46 in win xp pro sp2.When I loaded the one website I get the following message instead:
    I loaded the same site in Firefox v4.0(I know that is not a good idea yet I have been trying for ages to get hold of an author of a Firefox v4.0 theme so I can get permission to maintain it,some help with some graphic elements so I can update Firefox v4.0 to Firefox v28.0 which I use on my laptop... I have updated the Firefox theme to more compatible with v28.0 and have been testing\using the mostly fixed theme on my laptop which has win vista home basic sp2 installed) and the website loads in Firefox v4.0 securely with no problems at all.

    To me that the fact that the site loads in Firefox v4.0 and not in Google Chrome v46 tells me that Google has done some "deal" with Microsoft to get people to go over to win 8,8.1,10....I can't help that people aren't happy with the newer version of Windows,etc...(sorry for the bit of a "rant")

    Can someone please explain me why in an older version of Firefox I can access a website securely that a later version of Google Chrome can't access supposedly because win xp can't "understand" the security certificate because it is in a format that win xp can't understand yet in Firefox the site loads normally and securely?

    Thanks

    Basically, Google Chrome is warning you that Windows XP is outdated and unsupported.
    Mozilla Firefox v4.0 doesn't know that.

    Also, any reason you haven't installed SP3 for Windows XP?

    Well windows 10 is really a very good operating system.I never see a problem,First i did was disable all of the Spyware crap that Microsoft put on.Other than that it runs perfectly fine.I have yet to see a BSOD.

    I basicly skipped vista and 8,8.1 and went to 10.

    I used windows XP and windows 7 for years.Until microsoft fixed a lot of the OS issues.

    Other than that it run's fine.And the boot time for me is less than a min.

    @Eldon

    The thing is that Google Chrome just displays that message and won't load the site at all.Like I mentioned before in another thread I need a replacement win xp pro install cd with sp2 pre-installed before risking updating to sp3.

    @wile e coyote

    Upgrading to Win 10 to play the latest games doesn't appeal to me at all as the hassles are not worth it at all!I'd rather have support for older games and newer ones that can run win 7 or before.... that I own or play to buy.

    From your post...
    There is no risk updating Windows XP to SP3.
    I run Windows XP Professional SP3 with Seven Remix XP.

    As for using Mozilla Firefox v4.0... why? :confused:

    @Eldon

    I have hardware problems which could mess up the upgrade to sp3 which is why I need a replacement install cd just in case of any problems. As for Firefox I have already explained why.I need to get that theme fixed\finished but I need to contact the author from Virtus designs for help first but he just ignores me.

    What hardware problems do you have? Maybe we can help.
    SP3 for Windows XP doesn't have any special hardware requirements over SP2.

    Firstly my pc's motherboard killed two graphics cards yet I took the pc back to the shop that installed the motherboard and graphics cards which were still under warranty and all they did was replace the graphics card and that one which was the second replacement graphics card which was "killed" about 2 and a half weeks after I got it back from the shop. They did not even check the motherboard as the onboard sound card was damaged\"dead"...I did not have a car a the time so I had to rely on my dad who refused to go back so I lost out and have been with a badly messed up pc for a very long time... :(

    This thread:Updating a Firefox theme to v25.0 onwards... explains my fixes to the Firefox theme but I need help with creating new tab images which I suck at so that is why I have been trying to re-contact the author so I can finish fixing it and maybe get permission to maintain it.Virtus Designs is the guy who made the theme originally.
