Desktop Organizer?

Hi: I am trying to do something to organize all of the icons that I have on my desktop...It is a real mess...Can anyone recommend a program that will allow me to catagorize icons by type and then open a new desktop page containing only icons of a certain catagory? Sort of like a separate desktop page for photo, internet, video editing, etc? Hope this is clear enough...Any suggestions are welcome! Thanks!

I create folders on my desktop by Right clicking on desktop/New/Folder.
I then rename the folder and drag the icons from the desktop into it.
Leaving the most used icons still on the desktop.
Makes it look cleaner...

If you are on Win 10 you can now have multiple desktops. Just click on the Task View icon and add a new desktop. That's the solution you are looking for, but it's for Win 10 only.

 

I'm gonna retract that - multiple desktops in 10 are a bit of a disappointment. You can organise your running apps across desktops but not, apparently your program shortcuts, which is what you want I believe. My bad, sorry

Fences is good but it's not free though you get a trail for 30 days then you need to make a payment of $9.99 for the program

 

There are other apps listed on the page I linked the OP to. It would be his choice.

 

For Fences - get an older version. I have 1.01 runs on Win 8.1. Don't update it.
