I had wanted to use Windows Sound Recorder for it's simplicity. Today, I couldn't find it on my computer. I'm running Windows 7/64 and have used the Recorder many times without incident. It filled my needs perfectly. I vaguely remember reading somewhere that a setting was required to make it appear in the Accessories Menu.

    Help, please.

    TIA

    Don

Type 'sound' in the standard Start Menu search box and 'sound recorder' should appear

It appears by default in Accessories - no settings need to be adjusted. If it isn't appearing for you type sound in Start > Search

Ah, Max has already given you the same advice

Thanks, Max and Earthing, but nothing was found. Frustrated!

Do you know what the .exe would be? I'll try searching for that.

The exe is SoundRecorder.exe in System32

    Max,

    No joy!

No corrupted files found during scan!

How do I keep the report from scrolling off screen. It's been ages since I worked in DOS! lol

    Did you find this?

Eldon, I found it and it runs flawlessly but still doesn't appear in the Accessories Menu.

Anyway, colour me elated (but try to stay within the lines).

"Yukon King, THIS CASE IS CLOSED!"

I pinned it to the Taskbar.

Then we'll make it appear there... :D and then the case will be closed. ;)

Right-click SoundRecorder.exe and send it to the Desktop.

    Rename it Sound Recorder.

Next right-click the Accessories folder on the Start Menu, and click Open all users.

Now drag your new Sound Recorder shortcut to the Accessories folder. You can also use cut & paste.

But he hadn't pinned it to Accessories so your #10 was still needed :)
