LOL. I have that video in my stash. Hear oldies all the time and if I remember when I get home I go get a copy. Rock and Country. Have some videos that were first appearances on the Ed Sullivan Show. Have some that were introduced by the Smothers Brothers. It's amazing to me what is on youtuube. Ode to Billie Joe. Could go on forever.

Yes but before that he and she threw something off the bridge. Supposedly it was the reason he jumped later.

 

Actually I really like the "Oldies" which includes songs from the 1950s to the 1970s so I hear songs from when I was a kid all the time. One of my favorites is Sleep Walk by Santo & Johnny.

 

Haven't heard this on radio for decades but one of the first songs I remember, besides Johnny Cash or Elvis was the Browns doing The Three Bells.

 

Not to get off topic but one has to wonder how different Rock music would have evolved in the USA if there had been no "British Invasion" of music.

Yesterday, "Cum On Feel the Noize" by Slade was playing on the radio. It was #1 in the UK in 1973 but only managed #98 in the US.
10 years later, a cover by American band Quiet Riot made it to the #5 spot in the US.

I heard The Letter by The Box Tops yesterday and remember first listening to it on my tranny (transistor radio for the younguns) at 5am doing my paper round before school when I was 12 yo My times have changed....... my two kids each got their first jobs when they were 17 yo and wanting to buy a car


and I remember Summer In The City was playing on the radio around the same time and I heard this a couple of weeks ago when I was scrolling through some digital radio stations .... I really like this song
