    I have windows 7. The problem started after I changed from AVG freeware to Symantec endpoint protection. Symantec detected and detects constantly a Trojen.Gen.2 virus but only quarantines it with no options for removal. I started by running norton power eraser with no luck. I have read things ranging to it is a false positive caused by Symantec to it is a REALLY bad virus with potential to hack accounts,key logging ect.
    My computer in all ways seems to be working fine, I am just concerned as to what this virus is doing in the back round and the fact that I can not seen to get rid of it.

    thanks in advance.

    As you are online right now, let me know exactly what your anti virus is detecting please. I need a file and file path for the 'threat'

    You're welcome. I cannot see the file names properly even when zooming in. May I have an enlarged screenshot please?

    I am not familiar with Symantec, can you try this?

    • Open up your antivirus
    • Select the Quarantine tab
    • On the General tab under "When New Definitions Arrive" set it to "Do Nothing"
    • Empty the quarantine folder.

    Take a look at this thread:
    https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH102953.html

    Now, after reviewing your logs, let's do this:

    Fix items using RogueKiller.

    Double-click RogueKiller.exe to run. (Vista/7/8 right-click and select Run as Administrator)
    When it opens, press the Scan button
    Now click the Registry tab and locate these detections

    • [PUP] (X86) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Webexp Enhanced -> Found
    • [PUP] (X64) HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1473592053-2824796042-3629142336-1000\Software\V9 -> Found
    • [PUP] (X86) HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1473592053-2824796042-3629142336-1000\Software\V9 -> Found

    Place a checkmark next to each of these items, leave the others unchecked.
    Now press the Delete button.

    Same for this entry on the files tab:
    • [PUP][Folder] C:\Program Files (x86)\Br Media Player -> Found

    When it is finished, there will be a log on your desktop called: RKreport[2].txt
    Attach RKreport[2].txt to your next message. (How to attach)
    Reboot the machine.

    Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Seven, right-mouse click it and select Run as Administrator.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Attach JRT.txt to your next message.

    Re run Hitman Pro, activate/enable the free trial and allow it to remove all that it finds.
    Once done, rescan with Hitman (just a scan) and upload new log.
    Same for RogueKiller.
    MGTools did not run to completion, please run it again ensuring that you have protection software disabled, that you are indeed running as admin, and that UAC is turned off.
    Upload the log from it as well as the other requested logs. :)

    I had some issues with the first 2 steps:
    When trying to empty the quarantine folder symantec would freeze and I would have to restart the computer to close it.even when looking at the support article mine is set up differently.
    Also, on the first running of RogueKiller and deleting the specific lines , RKreport[2].txt was not on my desktop and I can not find it in a search.
    All other reports seem to have gone smoothly.

    Before I review the logs, tell me, is Symantec still quarantining these 'threats'?

    I turned it back on about 30 minutes ago and have nothing pop up yet.All are still in quarantine as it would not let me delete them.

    OK, that's good. Just a case of waiting to see now whether they pop up again. Just post back here if it starts again. :) But as you can gather, this is a software issue really and non malware related.

    If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.

    7. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
