I lose wifi to my hp 8610 pro every once in a while ( I have a vista and windows 8 computers) connected with wifi works most of the time on both computers but every once in a while it loses the wifi to the printer. When i turn the printer off for a minute and then back on, the connection works on all my devices. Until it happens again. I have talked to hp support several times they took control of my printer over the internet and told me it was fixed but still happens once in a while ( can anyone help with this) It is very hard to go to where the printer is when this happens and turn off and on.
    thank you in advance

This all depends on why it is happening. If the problem is due to distance between the printer and your WAP (wireless access point - typically integrated with router our modem/gateway device), then you need to move them closer together. Note that the effective range is greatly affected by the number of barriers (walls, ceilings, and floors) between the device and the WAP, the thickness and materials used for those barriers, and metal pipes and wires in those barriers. Nearby metal filing cabinets can create barriers and even bounce the RF causing interference, and nearby electronic devices may cause interference too - such as microwave ovens, cell towers, TVs, etc.

You can try elevating the printer and the WAP to create a more direct "line of sight" path for the RF (wifi) signal to travel. If the WAP has exterior antennas, you can try re-orienting them. If the WAP as internal antennas, you can try rotating the WAP (or the printer) 90° and see if that helps.

tried all of that in the past but still have to turn printer on and off to connect back to wifi.
thank you for the info anyway.

Have you tried a static IP address for the printer?

How far away and how many walls are between the printer and WAP?

Going back your opening post and just to clarify, you said, "most of the time on both computers. Does that mean you some times lose wifi connection to the network with the computers too? Or only the printer loses wifi connection?

One wall between, opposite side of about 2ft. the only device that disconnects is the printer (we have 4 iphones, 2 ipads, 2 mac computers 3 pcs) all work perfect with wifi only thing that loses wifi is the hp printer 8610 pro

Then it is hard to point the finger at anything but the printer. :( If you can move the printer away from any large metal objects (file cabinets, refrigerators, mail distribution boxes, etc.) that might help - even opposite of the side of the room. You will just have to experiment.

Ultimately, I note by the specs for the 8610, it does support Ethernet. That may be your best, most reliable option instead of wireless - even if it means punching a hole through the wall.

We rent so not to keen at putting hole in wall but i will try moving printer around a little and see what happens.
    thanks again
will let you know in a few days if that works

I understand. But if this is office space, most landlords understand networking needs. And there are professional looking Ethernet wall jacks that are affordable. I mean surely there are light switches, power outlets, probably even phone jacks already in the walls. So a network jack should not be a problem.

    Just a thought...
Is your printer's power saving enabled? This might cause it to disconnect from the Wi-Fi network.
