I just did a search and the whole look has changed since the one I did this morning.

    I don't know if I like it.

My searches show like that from time to time and I haven't been able to figure out why. Then they go back to normal.

If you figure out what causes this, please share.

You might try closing your browser then re-opening and see if it is back to normal.

Weird. I thought it was their new look or something. Didn't realize it might be caused by something inadvertent. I'll look into it.

I had to clear my cache but it's gone now.

I did find this answer on a few product threads which seemed to be the consensus:

What can I say, Eldon...I'm a creature of habit and it sets it up the way I like it. :D

Eldon in my experience Google is better for searching for some things, especially shopping, so I tend to use it most often also. Or it maybe just be a habit like Laura.;) If I am searching for something in particular repeatedly I will switch search sites and use DuckDuckGo to see if I get different results and sometimes I do.

Thanks LauraR for finding that. I just assumed I had done something. Personally, I don't like the results in those boxes.

As far as using google, I've used others but sadly I never seem to get the results. Google nails down what I want pretty well so I keep using it.

The current version of palemoon doesn't include google as a search engine. I had to install it on our 4 computers. Not only did I miss it but my husband complained that google was gone. So I guess it's not just ladies who use google. :D

Google and Startpage should produce very similar results, but I haven't tested searches and compared them directly.

It's funny, but I usually do the opposite - search with DuckDuckGo first and if I don't find what I'm looking for, I'll go to Google or Bing.

I like being able to customize the appearance and search options with duckduckgo. Once they are set, you can generate a link that will always use your options.

    Not necessarily.
Have a look at these StartPage search results.
Who needs more results? It's chutney! :p

Yep...this. I don't find other ones give me the results I want.

    I'll give startpage a try. Doesn't look bad. :)

Wonder if this is a test as didnt get the same screen layout but have seen Google and Microsoft randomly test new layouts to search results in the past,

http://yippy.com/ (used to be called Clusty) still one of my favs when researching stuff as its a clustering search engine, so narrow down your options (concept clusters is the menu)
