What's going on with this thing? http://www.theverge.com/2016/10/5/1...te-7-fire-replacement-plane-battery-southwest

Even after Samsung supposedly brought an end to the initial problem of the Galaxy going up in flames by recalling them, they're still going up in flames. At least in one case. Perhaps all the other replacements are safe. I bet you can start finding good deals on this phone now if you happen to be shopping around for one.

One note here, Ford was well aware of how Pinto's would go up in flames if hit from behind. There's no evidence suggesting that Samsung ever knew the Galaxy will go up in flames too.

There are two different Samsung phones with a similar name:
    Samsung Galaxy S7
    and
    Samsung Galaxy Note 7

It's the NOTE 7 that hit the headlines weeks ago about battery safety issues and millions have been recalled.

What's the difference between the S7 and Note 7? I'm just wondering why the S7 isn't going up in flames too?

They get no respect. Just this past week I saw one of those little cartoon / comic strip sequences in a little newspaper. It had a Boy Scout saying, "It's no problem lighting a fire without any matches. You just rub 2 Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phones together." Zoits!

Yup. That's the phone which explodes.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 is by all accounts an amazing phone. My buddy has one. He loves it.

But how are they suppose to get any respect to begin with after they botched the first recall? If you don't come to the rescue after a serious issue like this it's only natural to lose respect.

That's it - Samsung have now permanently stopped production of its high-end Galaxy NOTE 7 smart phone as even replacements set on fire!

But it's not just smart phones setting fire and actually causing injuries, here in the UK we've had an ongoing saga of Whirlpool, Hotpoint and Beko tumble dryers that have even set part of a block of apartments on fire:

The below is now known to have been caused by a similar Whirlpool tumble dryer:

    So true.
While the prospect of a smart phone or any other non-combustible device catching fire is worrisome, one has to look at the facts.
How many deaths/injuries have been caused by burning smart phones vs how many deaths/injuries have been caused by defective airbags?
In South Africa more than 40 people are murdered each day. I would like to see the murderers recalled...

If you want to talk about smart phone deaths though, even the non defective smart phones have resulted in more deaths than the airbags you stated. I say that because think of all the distracted driving and other distractions by them that have lead to deaths and numerous accidents. And the picture just keeps getting worse thanks to unneeded trash like Pokemon.

    I agree.
The number of deaths due to the stupidity of people is countless.
I just think this Samsung Galaxy Note 7 battery incident has been 'blown' out of proportion.
You are a thousand times more likely to die in a car accident... with or without airbags.

Yeah it's amazing how people have no qualms with taking chances in their death-mobiles and even up their odds too by combining them with no seatbelts, drugs, alcohol, texting, speeding, tailgating, no turn signals, etc. Yet they feel safe with them. Go figure.

Indeed. It is getting a bit silly. The Note 7s are now banned from all flights in the US. I wonder which company will benefit from Samsung's misstep? I don't think that all Note 7 customers will move to Apple. Maybe Google will pick up some Samsung users.
