I used to always use VLC but recently I've switched to Foobar 2000.
On both of my HTPCs I play audio with Kodi as I stream from my NAS.

I don't listen to audio on computers. I have three mp3players and that's what I listen to: in the car (I have portable speakers I use instead of a headset), in the shower, and even in bed. My husband bought me a pillow with a built in speaker and the player plugs in. I put the mp3 player on a sleep setting and drift off to sleep listening to music. The sound is so low that it doesn't disturb my husband's tv show.

    Old meets new...
I play my PC's sound through a National Panasonic music centre I have had since 1980 - line out to aux in with a cable I made up. With Winamp's equalizer enabled, the sound is great.
I can connect my smartphone via line in (or mic in - the rear connection is stereo) and listen to music or the radio.

I use Media Player Classic -HC x64 and VLC, also connected to a separate component amp and equalizer to listen to audio. For most mp3 files I also have the video official release and I use the same 2 programs for viewing while listening.

Weirdly I use Groove or the old Zune player, the management of tracks is still superb in Zune, pity about the actual hardware player, just didnt cut it with the iPod.

    I use VLC.
I used to use Windows Media Player until I started downloading YouTubes, which with them being FLV format, Windows Media Player couldn't play them without additional Codecs.

I've had curiosity about JetAudio and iTunes. But, from the info that I think I recall Googling, I believe I recall it saying JetAudio was inferior to VLC and conceivably didn't even play the FLV format. iTunes was also said to be inferior ... especially for its footprint. I believe I read that the sound quality of iTunes was inferior to VLC.

I made the switch from VLC to Daum PotPlayer, it has in my opinion, been a better choice for watching everything I've thrown at it.

Computers can sound nice with an okay soundcard, and a set of good speakers,A Flac or Wav file and a good player(Foobar or Aimp)

Onboard sound is so good, sound cards are an unnecessary luxury. My 5 year old motherboard supports 192 KHz and 24 bit sound.
Depending on why you need more, you better off buying an Audio Interface card.

JonahWales, I'm not suggesting you use Winamp.
I'm merely saying there are other options besides Windows Media Player and other popular media players.

And there are numerous websites where you can safely download discontinued software like Winamp.
    MajorGeeks - http://www.majorgeeks.com/content/p...&cof=FORID:10&ie=UTF-8&q=winamp&sa.x=0&sa.y=0
You'll also find the Winamp Backup Tool & Winamp Essentials Pack

    Winaero (Winamp 5.7.0.3444 Beta) - http://winaero.com/download.php?view.867
The website also hosts hundreds of skins for Winamp & AIMP.

I honestly had never heard of OldApps until it was mentioned on Majorgeeks about a week or 2 ago. I have always used Old Version, which, by the way, opens fine on Chrome. Always opened fine on Firefox when I had it too. Just tested Edge and it opens fine there as well.

It might be because I use Tracking Protection in IE, and TP as well as uBlock Origin in Firefox.

I have uBlock origin on Chrome, still no problems accessing it. Maybe you have a filter enabled that I don't that might be preventing it?

It might be the Tracking Protection Lists.

    PS And it opened! :)

Windows media player has been what I've been using. I only use iTunes when I need to sync with my phone. I like the skins for Winamp though.

iTunes has gotten so bad I quit using it. WMP I use in a pinch. But honestly, I now just sing if I am alone.
