My machine has same symptoms (only difference is ECS motherboard - intel chipsets) mentioned in:
http://forums.majorgeeks.com/index....-idt-audio-control-panel-rundll32-exe.237202/ which describes a IDTSG hanging in a CPU loop and not starting.

I think IDTSG.CPL (v1.0.5762.0 nd648 cp1) has some sort dependency and stopped working due to some other software update but not obvious which update triggered conflict. I am looking for updated version of driver software. It is a mild nuisance not worth a full OS reinstall but I can't activate microphone from sndvol32.exe as there is a setup stuff that can only by running IDTSG.CPL. I tried Google search for IDT HD Audio Codec driver updates but don't see this file in driver packages I found on http://drivers.softpedia.com. I looked on ECS elitegroup website http://www.ecs.com.tw but don't see any older win XP drivesr listed.

Any ideas where I get an update that has IDTSG.CPL ?

What is the model number of the ECS motherboard?

Motherboard model number: ECS 945GCT-M2/1333 v1.0A

IDT audio HD codec driver has PNP Device ID: HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8384&DEV_7682&SUBSYS_10192633&REV_1036\4&CC92D09&0&0001

Since posting I found some more packages.

    IDTsg.cpl 1.0.6099.8 is in IDT115 package on ECS site - http://www.ecs.com.tw/website2008/P...ilID=827&DetailName=Feature&MenuID=24&LanID=0
so as that is the one for the one for that motherboard I will try that package first.

I have found two other driver packages containing IDTSG.CPL look like they originated from ECS in the past.

IDTsg.cpl 1.0.5902.1 in IDT095 package on http://www.techspot.com/drivers/driver/file/information/10799/ - not used techspot before for software downloads.

IDTsg.cpl 1.0.5902.0 in IDTv087 package on http://download.cnet.com/IDT-High-Definition-Audio-CODEC/3000-2120_4-197119.html (it does not look like it has the cnet crap wrapper)

I will try them if first one fails to help.

I notice the packages contain some dot-net stuff so guess it has dot-net prerequisites and I did some dot-net updates which a suspected broke IDTSG.CPL. I will post my test results later.

    I agree.
I would not even try the other two as they are older.
I doubt it. I have never heard of MS .Net Framework dependant drivers for hardware.
Where did you get this description?
*.cpl ususally refers to a Control Panel item.

.NET is often used for the front end, the software GUI.

Yes I agree MS .Net is not being used in low level driver code but the driver package includes a control panel applet that controls some features provided by IDT hardware. I have no reason to believe the low level sound I/O is not working line in / speaker / volume mixers are working but I lack the "buttons" to control the microphone port and I know from past experience it can only be activated from the IDTSG.CPL control panel applet. I indicated in first post this is the component that is not functioning. Shown below is a white call out menu for the green "jack" has multiple functions and you choose what you want the jack to do. I need to set "pink" port to microphone input mode other than that I rarely use IDT Audio Control Panel which is why I did not spot the problem immediately.

Yes I would consider it IDTSG.CPL control panel applet as software GUI to the low level audio driver components.

Could you explain this? The pink connectors (front & rear) are microphone connectors.
What do you see when you right-click the volume icon and then Recording devices?

I was referring to the diagram in previous post cyan/green/pink are color coding on audio ports as illustrated in diagram and found on rear of machine. Some machine have duplicate set on front access but this machine case does not have them.

You are referring to SNDVOL32.EXE and I am aware "recording controls", the input device has microphone selected, and it is not muted in "Volume controls", but you HAVE TO use IDTSG.CPL to make it work.
