Donald Trump was just elected President. He's going to have his finger on the "Button". He's going to put up a wall between the U.S. and Mexico. He's banning immigration. He's said he'd bomb the sh*t out of "them". Are we headed toward an E.L.E. and how soon? Nuclear winter certainly would be one.

I thought Trump's acceptance was a surprisingly emotionally reaching speech. So unpolished and straightforward. We don't know how many of these words he wrote himself but he sounded surprisingly sincere - a level of sincerity Hillary has never been able to sustain for a full 15 minutes.

I didn't stay up to watch the election results so, I was surprised when I saw on MSN.com that he had won. Once again the "popular" vote meant nothing. He carried states that had more Electoral votes but, the majority of the population voted for Clinton.

If he, in fact, does the things he said he's going to do, allies will turn to enemies (including Canada).

He's never held a political office and it used to be that in order to become President, you had to be a Senator, even if you hadn't completed your 9-year term.

The stock markets plummeted and I'm afraid too.

The popular vote between Trump and Clinton was statistically a dead heat - 59,781,604 to 59,581,587
So the popular vote was effectively evenly split.
Given the entire mainstream media in the whole of the western world was against him, and Clinton is a 30 year member of the establishment, that's some feat.
He wasn't the best candidate by any means but he is streets ahead of Clinton and he wont be launching US troops into another disastrous and expensive war any time soon.

Actually Trump is not the only person elected President that never held elected office prior to the Presidency, there was Dwight D. Eisenhower and a few more before him.

We'll have to wait and see but there is no evidence that he will start any war. And let's face it - can he get even close to spending the amount of US tax dollars on turning several countries into ungovernable waste tips than two Bushs and an Obama have? I doubt it.

Actually, US senators serve a 6 year term, not 9. Stock markets were near record high. The electoral verses popular vote is how it is done in the US. I, for one, am tired of what almost all our politicians do (democrat AND rebublican), campaign on one set of stuff, and do something different when they get elected.

I thought it was odd that the repubs got the presidency and kept control of the House and Senate. Maybe people are hoping for some change.

    Go Rump! :)

Nor do you... your comments are irrelevant. Trump gave his approval of the statement by NOT having it removed from the book.

I am afraid of a pre-emptive strike by the U.S somewhere under Trump, whether it's North Korea or ISIS stronghold(s). Collateral damage (civilians) will not matter.

But, while watching CBS News this evening, I learned the premise of the Constitution — a system of checks and balances to keep the unthinkable from happening (at least under our Governing system). Let's hope the Constitution does it's job.

Anti Trump protests happening in several cities such as New York, Chicago and more.

Trumps Campaign Manager took away his device so he couldn't tweet any longer and put him on a teleprompter in the last few weeks. Therefore his vocabulary and range of words improved.

I think the real E.L.E. we may face is the chance rogue nuke in North Korea or Iran going off in an accident and spreading it's cloud to neighboring countries. And the cloud would not be the level of a nuke power accident. It's the level of weapons grade.

Well, the Iran nuke deal was not a good thing Imandy... Rump was not part of that.

I must say, I was impressed with Mrs. Clinton's words.

    "
I know how disappointed you feel because I feel it too, and so do tens of millions of Americans who invested their hopes and dreams in this effort. This is painful and it will be for a long time, but I want you to remember this. Our campaign was never about one person or even one election, it was about the country we love and about building an America that's hopeful, inclusive and big-hearted.

We have seen that our nation is more deeply divided than we thought. But I still believe in America and I always will. And if you do, then we must accept this result and then look to the future. Donald Trump is going to be our president. We owe him an open mind and the chance to lead.

Our constitutional democracy enshrines the peaceful transfer of power and we don't just respect that, we cherish it. It also enshrines other things; the rule of law, the principle that we are all equal in rights and dignity, freedom of worship and expression. We respect and cherish these values too and we must defend them."

You are trying to suggest that words written by another person 16 years ago presage a Trump invasion of Korea.
What nonsense. When Shiflett was interviewed live on BBC Newsnight in late October he stated that Trump never asked to read the transcript pre-publication. It was sent to him but he never ever came back to Shiflett with any comments. Shiflett was clear that for Trump the point of the book was to raise Trump's profile, and not to set in stone any future plans about elected office.
You are just continuing what the stupid mainstream media establishment did in the USA and every other western country - throw up baseless scenarios for 'nightmare' that would come from a Trump Presidency. It's the same idiocy carried out by the entire mainstream media, and what the entire mainstream political party establishment did in the UK prior to the June 23 Brexit referendum. It blew up in their faces in the UK and now, wonderfully, in the USA.
I don't especially like Trump and I don't share many of his views (though he is great on Apprentice USA!;)) but he is the result of 50 years of millions of working people and the poor being ignored by the political establishment. If the DNC hadn't cooked the books in the Democratic primaries Sanders would have been the Democratic candidate and, without a shadow of a doubt, he would have beaten Trump.
Sadly, many people and all mainstream media commentators have been blind to that groundswell of dissent in the USA and in Europe and it seems you are too. You've got Trump now whether you like it or not.

You mean you are afraid that he might do something like Dubya did by starting an illegal invasion and war and spending more US tax dollars on it in 5 years than it cost Obama to bail out the banks? Or that he might do something like what Hillary Clinton did in pushing Obama to intervene militarily in Libya turning it into an even more lawless cess pit than Somalia? Or that he might do what Clinton/Obama did in secretly funding and arming Saudi Arabia to bomb the shite out of Yemen - hospitals, schools, civilian residences?

The people you mention didn't launch nukes. I fear that Donald Trump might BEFORE terrorists or other enemies of the state set off a dirty bomb somewhere on the mainland.

During the first limited security briefing with Donald Trump, he asked several times, "why can't we just use nukes". He is clueless and careless. He is extremely dangerous. This is the consensus among so many former political leaders and advisors. No, I'm not going to compile a list, so don't ask. This guy really scares me. It has been reported that 85% of those that voted for Trump said they did so just for the sake of change, not because of policy. We had a candidate who proposed significant positive changes in a safe and reasonable manner. We had a candidate with decades of government service and a record of decency, good judgement and compassion. Now what we have, what the citizens have chosen, is just the opposite. What an enlightened and prudent electorate.

I've avoided controversial topics and comments here for some time, but having stumbled into this, I needed to vent. I went out for walk yesterday and spoke about this with every person I encountered. Everyone was worried and upset about the result of this election. I think everyone had a feeling of consternation. Some women cried. One man told me he became physically sick. I still feel it in my gut. Like I said, this guy really scares me.

As much as he talks a lot of nonsense in public, I don't believe for one second he would say that in a closed briefing.
But the scare stories acted the opposite to their intention. More people than ever simply don't believe the establishment. That's why he won. If more people in the USA had protested about DNC actions to stop people nominating Sanders, they wouldn't have Trump now.

    I'm not American...
I don't want to fast forward to the next US election because I don't know whether I'll be around another day/week/month/year.
And no, don't tell me I wont be around because Donald Trump will destroy planet earth as we know it.

But, I cannot wait for the next US Presidential Election.
My money is on the paranoid, undemocratic liberals and/or the biased, prejudiced, opinionated, scaremongering liberal media having 101 excuses why Trump didn't nuke North-Korea.

    Question to Americans...
Why are liberals hell-bent on democracy... until the result of a democratic vote don't go their way?
I smell hypocrisy... and it stinks.

I am not trying to suggest a "Trump invasion of Korea"... I posted a quote from the book - of Trump's attitude towards a pre-emptive strike against North Korea. It is utter nonsense, naivety, and laughable that you believe that anyone with basic education wouldn't screen a transcript of a book written about themselves, for any contents that contained inaccurate quotes or views that they didn't hold.
I'm not blind... remember, I live here. And you're very arrogant to presume to believe that you are an authority on this nation's politics and why Trump won the election for president.
    Answer to Non-Americans...
Our country's democratic republic grants its citizens the right to voice their opinions about the outcome any election...whether they agree with the majority's voting decision or not.

That is precisely where he should deliberate that issue... not in the public eye.
I'll never forget my teacher's adage from my U.S. Government class.
"It's better to be thought a fool, than open your mouth and remove all doubt."
I have my own thoughts about why you would rant against that quote as inaccurate, when Trump hasn't.

    Now that's illogical.
