Installed Windows 10 To My New Hdd

but having some issues.

First, I can't seem to get all my "updates" to install. I want to get the anniversary installation, version 1607.

What I was given was the original version for the Windows 10 free upgrade on my Windows 7 laptop. So I got that same version (1511..) back which seems normal to me. I still think I should do the upgrade, as I had tried it before, but had some issues with it. Now I realize maybe those issues will be alleviated since I have done this new HDD, with a whole new installation of Win 10. Opinions welcome as always

Here are a couple of snips from my "update" area that shows what I am not understanding. I see where it says "updates available" and I marked with the colored pointer. But I don't see where it actually installs them, and I did do the "restart now" (marked with another arrow) thinking they'd been installed, but no change in the version showing in "about pc". In fact, I can't find anywhere it says it's 1511 or 1607. I think I've lost my marble, I had the one left, but pretty sure it gone .

Any help is appreciated as always

Feedback welcome, but I think that's my problem. If you guys think maybe not, you can let me know if you have time Otherwise, I think I need to try again after the 31 days are up.

 

Hmm, that shouldn't be the reason as it's long past the cutoff for the upgrade, plus yours was a clean install.

Just give it some time to update, don't fret over it over the next day or two.

Interesting, when I clicked on a link near the bottom of "security & updates" called "Learn More" it took me to Windows 10 site where there was a button to Download Anniversary version, which is doing so now the link is right under the "Restart Now" link:

 

Type winver into Start.

 

Forgot that..........memory fades sometimes, getting into mid seventies ........

 

Thanks thanks again you guys I've got the upgrade installed and it's doing updates now and it's only at 25% so it's taking a little while for it to update for the 1607 version but this works really well and also thank you for the winter for the wind version to type in that's a really great easy much easier way for me now to see what version of God or to help my sister so thanks again and I'll see you guys after I'm all updated and I'll probably stop back in thanks talk to you later I'm on my phone now so that's why the messages not it doesn't it screwed up but yes it's me that screwed up not my phone bye for now oh and as for me I'm right behind you back logic

 

All upgraded to 1607, and info in my signature now Thanks again "all" of you I'm just busy putting some games back on here, and programs.

On December 13th (Patch Tuesday) it will most likely update to a new build with some features of Insider Preview.

 

Where do you get the "news" on these builds/update mdonah? I'd like to keep up on it Well, come to think of it, probably the Windows site right?

 

It's been the pattern for MS Update for a while. Most of the time, updates are delivered on the second Tuesday of each month (Patch Tuesday). But since the July update to version 1607, "off schedule" updates have been distributed to all versions of Windows.
