Creating Safe Mode In Windows 10 For Troubleshooting Without A Disc

I thought I might pass on a simple command line method of forcing Windows 10 to give more options when in trouble, and the user has not got a disc, seeing so many without backup discs
Obviously worth keeping on, in my opinion
From Ian on Windows 10 forums
    https://www.windows10forums.com/articles/enable-f8-safe-mode-boot-menu.8/
    The basics, so simple
Type CMD, in search box to bring up the command prompt, administrative
Type in bcdedit /set {bootmgr} displaybootmenu yes
If you have it correct, -- the operation completed successfully will come up-----, If not look at spacing and { not ( brackets. I had dot try several time, but it worke in the end.
Type EXIT, and the command prompt will disappear
When you restart you get the recovery options without a disc, more so than the usual Windows 10 repair option.
Mine is UEFI, so boot up would be a bit quick to work on an fn+f8 button start, if done another way.
This may slow your boot time a little (a few seconds, I found).
To change back simply follow the same process, but at the end , instead of putting in 'yes, at the end of the command, change that to 'no' - bcdedit / set {bootmgr} displaybootmenu no
I have not tried this on a multiboot system.

That doesn't offer an admin command prompt baklogic. Better to right click the Start button and select Command Prompt (Admin)

You can get to safe mode in Windows 10 from the initial boot menu via the power button choosing restart and will reboot into those options.

If right clicking the resulting cmd symbol that comes up, it does allow you to click run as administrator -- I stand corrected , but it worked that way for me- I often find a roundabout route, probably the way I learned-- the hard way- I had to find different ways, for all Windows systems, when I did a little teaching,
Like looking for device manager- I taught everyone to right click computer, click manage to bring up computer management, so that they could see the device manager, but, also, because while there , they could look at event manager- which was helpful to me, as well as them- It worked on xp, vista,W7/8/10
As different updates through W8 came along, I stuck to the way I remembered, and still works .

I found that way, was not as good, personally, as ticking the safe boot in msconfig in my computer and clicking Fn+ F8 seemed to just go straight to Windows, as my setup boots too quickly, and I did not want to make longer timeout for booting.
I don't see that option on the restart /shutdown button- perhaps I need a new pair of glasses.

    From the sign-in screen
    1. Restart your PC. When you get to the sign-in screen, hold the Shift key down while you select Power
      https://kbdevstorage1.blob.core.windows.net/asset-blobs/11995_en-us_2

      > Restart.
    2. After your PC restarts to the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.
    3. After your PC restarts, you'll see a list of options. Select 4 or F4 to start your PC in Safe Mode. Or if you'll need to use the Internet, select 5 or F5 for Safe Mode with Networking.

That was the wrong picture I uploaded (ouch) Unfortunately, I uploaded an earlier attempt, where I had not clicked admin, by mistake admin command.PNG
It does give you a right click admin command - try it
See the new upload from same spot-- cropped admin cmd.png cmd into Cortana search box, right click the resulting cmd icon, and choose admin

The point I was really trying to make is that in Win 10 most of the settings a user might want, including command prompt, are on the right click on Start menu in Win 10. Maybe so in 7 too, can't remember.

Good information, and news to me, and I tried it, as you said but why nitpick?
Yes, that one does give you all the options- BUT if you cannot get into windows 10,and you don't have a disc - was what my input was about.
Of Course the moderator could put your information in underneath my original post, if he feels it a good idea to include together -

Say something like If you can get into windows 10, and want to get into safe mode.....and add your input

As I said- I stand corrected in Windows 10 - but I have seen and tried many versions-even bandit versions to see what can be done, and I tend to offer one that I know works in all Windows (something I am very pleased to see will work in most, if not all) I have looked at revolving icons, and allsorts just for the challenge, sometimes- but keep to what I find gives me no trouble, and still works.

Sorry baklogic but if you can't get into Win 10 you can't act on your advice either.

    THE TITLE WAS
Creating Safe Mode In Windows 10 For Troubleshooting Without A Disc
I would have thought you both would have read that properly -
My idea was that if you wish to create one before you get problems, HAVE NOT GOT, OR, MADE A RECOVERY DISC(S) and ARE still in Windows 10, I thought that it is a failsafe thing worth doing BEFORE YOU GET PROBLEMS.
If you merely wish to restart in safe mode , then, you are already in Windows, and Max Turner's safe mode is there to use -NOT WHAT THIS POST WAS ABOUT
I think I should send you both a new pair of glasses so that you can read my poor English a little better.
Or, even followed the link provided and see Ian's post on it.
