I attached my jump drive, restarted, hit f12 for boot option, then went to USB, hit enter, and it gave me an Invalid partition table.

Does that mean that my jump drive isn't working?

I am going to put 10 on a DVD, to see if it will work that way. When I went into my jump drive it only had the tool. It did not have the Windows 10 on it. I must have done something wrong in the transfer stages from the website.

So I am redoing the Windows 10 to a DVD. Cross your fingers everyone, that I actually do this right......lol

Insert your jump drive into a USB port and restart the computer using the Power button to first turn off the computer and then turn it back on. It should then boot to Windows 10 Setup.

I had to redo the Windows 10 because my jump drive didn't have the necessary files. So I made a DVD and it is in now. It is showing the windows 4 box screen and is running the dvd and my hard drive light is on.

OK, it booted. You may need to follow the instructions in Just Playin's link to get rid of the report first. Then you can restart the computer with the DVD still in and proceed normally with installation.

Ok I have this screen but it does not show the partition. Where did I go wrong?

Only shows that it went to c drive. Do I need to redo this?

Image is very small. You won't have a secondary partition with a clean install from a Microsoft disc image. In other words, only C:, no D:, E:, or otherwise unless you have a ROM drive or a card reader.

I do have a card reader in there. My SD and SC. So what do I do?

This is what I have now. Is this wrong? Considering that I had a "C" drive and a "D" drive before. D drive held Windows

Your picture is useless. Press the 'Print Screen' button on your keyboard. Open Paint and click 'Paste'. Save that and post it here.

CaMidtn...what is the make and model of the PC? When you reinstall Windows, the custom is to visit the manufacturers support/downloads and download the drivers for the PC that were on it from the factory. However, I think Windows 1o will do a decent job finding the best drivers for the computer. You might not have to download them. I can't tell if your card reader is showing up. If it's not, you could go to the support page for the PC and download the driver for it at least.

Windows installs by default to C:. The manufacturer of your PC probably set it up as D instead of C for some gimmicky reason. It doesn't matter.

Ok. I have a Dell Latitude E6410. But it had C drive and D drive. D drive was where the Recovery was. Now it is only on C drive. My HP 15 has the same set up.

This is what my HP says, but my Dell said the same thing

You could set up a restore partition of sorts again if you want to. However, you can kind of see in the fact that you had to reinstall the weakness of the concept. Actually, I can't think of all that many scenarios where the recovery partition is useful, anyway.

Honestly, as soon as you can, I recommend getting a dual bay backup drive and then save backups of the system to one of the drives. Then you can easily RAID the one drive with the other in the drive bay. Once you create a backup, you can even take the drive offline (unplug it) and then hook it up to renew your backups, so that it can't be harmed by an viruses. This is complete peace of mind as more or less the only thing that could destroy your backups and files is an electrical surge.

To be honest, I don't understand what you are saying.

When you wiped the drive with DBAN, you got rid of all the original partitions and were left with a raw 160 GB drive (the "C" drive).

Windows Setup (at the screen where you select the drive for installation) has "New" and also "Format". If you select "New", Windows Setup will create two partitions — a 350 MB Fat32 partition labelled "System Reserved" in Disk Management (it won't show in Windows/File Explorer) and the remainder of the disk will be an NTFS partition which will show as "C" in Windows/File Explorer.

The original Recovery partition contained the files needed to create Recovery media (a DVD) and could have been deleted once that was accomplished. But, you're doing a clean install of Windows 10 so, the Recovery partition isn't necessary anyway.

What AtlBo is suggesting is placing a second hard drive where the current optical drive is (it can be done on the Latitude 6410. I've done it with my Latitude 6400) and using that second drive for backups. But it would be easier to use your SD cards or an external USB connected drive,

So it is ok to run it like this?

Yes. It's fine and actually best. Just suggesting you backup your system to a USB removable drive if/when you can acquire one.

ok....thank all of you for your help.
