I found a good device hope fully for my desktop.

It is a 5.25” Internal HDD Mounting Kit for the 2.5”HDDs.

I can fit 4 2.5 hard drives in this kit.Well worth it in my case. And it's black too be cause my case is black.

My old HDD's have had a long life. They are over 16 years old and still run like new. They are just to big and bulky and heavy any more.

Then why not go SSD? They are thinner, lighter, and not bulky at all. And they consume less power, generate less heat, make no noise at all, and because there are no moving parts, can be expected to last considerably longer than hard drives.

Do note you were extremely lucky to have your current hard drives last 16 years. I would not expect any new drive today to last that long. Of course we don't know how many hours per day yours have been running, but still 16 years is remarkable, and unusual.

BTW, 16 years does suggest they could be EIDE (PATA) drives, not SATA which are today's standard. Finding 2.5 inch EIDE drives of suitable size may be a challenge.

And how much disk space do you need? If the budget is tight and you must go with hard drives, since you have SATA, you have lots of choices. But since your stated goal was to get rid of "big and bulky and heavy" hard drives, I still contend SSDs will serve you better.

And of course, even the slowest SSD will run circles around the fastest drives.

Well my laptop has 2 TB one internal and external storage backup. One is a SSD for main and the other is a HDD for extra space.I will probably go with the same setup.I normally use around 2 to 4 drives for all my music and movies.I like to keep them on a different drive to help with speed.

Either that or i might setup a Raid system on my desktop.

How does that help with speed? Do you watch movies and listen to music at the same time?

I see no reason for RAID any more. They are just more chances for something to go wrong.

    True

It Depends I might play a heavy game and watch a movie on the other screen as a distraction.
