Avg Search Bar?

    Just finished with the malware forums and my system seems to be running fine now.

    I ran RougeKiller today and it keeps flagging my VPN "hola" and it also found something with my web browser homepage.

    It says the "session.startup_urls" is set to "http://slickdeals.net/|http://www.google.com|http://mysearch.avg.com......."

    My homepage is slickdeals.net and I only use Google search.
    I have not seen the AVG search pages anywhere so I don't know what that means or if I should be worried about it.


    Any ideas?

    Open slickdeals.net and set that as your only home page.

    1) It seems that "your VPN hola" isn't highly regarded, from what I've read about it - including this

    2) I agree with Eldon - there are references to browser-hijackers in that second homepage: mysearch.avg(dot)com & search.conduit(dot)com

    In the Chrome settings under "appearances" the "show home button option" is enabled and https://slickdeals.net/ is the address. I don't see any other options.

    I only use hola occasionally and I have the browser set to not turn on with Windows. Do you think it's still doing stuff in the background based on what RK is showing?

    Since RogueKiller is what found that homepage modification, use it to fix/delete it.
    The RK log only shows that it's installed, but nothing running at the time the log was produced. *That link that I posted should have spiked your security concerns.
