(it was suggested that I move this here...)

started two weeks ago...we did nothing new

sometimes things are just right ...fast and normal
then, without any warning things are all on a delay...
then 5 minutes later back to normal

did all my updates and cleans... nothing abnormal
did some compatibility runs with chrome and now that is all messed up
and no change...can't get chrome back to the defaults...now get their pop up
all the time & have to click on changes or it will not let us get on the internet

still have the problem... have windows 8.1 and chrome browser as default

for those of you that followed this thread last week, I have some good news
well, bad newso_Othat my chrome is changed now due to my changes in compatibility trying to troubleshoot...but at least I didn't loose everything, I just get a pop up window in order to get on the internet

the good news is that I unplugged everything for maybe 3 minutes.... then after a few white sparks, everything plugged back in and so far after 3 days no problems

thank you for all your advice and posting this so maybe it might help someone else...;)

You can try using Revo Uninstaller to remove Chrome. Then after a reboot....reinstall.

If it is just CHROME browser that is causing a you a problem, then doing a very thorough clean uninstall of it - using an effective uninstaller program such as Revo Uninstaller Free or IoBit Uninstaller free (running both in their respective 'advanced' or 'Powerful' scan options- then restarting your system, run a safe disk cleaner such as CCleaner Standard free in its Cleaner and Registry scans, then reinstalling Chrome from a fresh set up may well sort your problems.

    yes, thank you...
if I do that, then all the stuff we have saved on the browser, we will lose and I'm on a shared computer.... yikes!!

You either want to solve the problem or you don't. It's that simple.
If you did a very simple internet search for 'How do I back up my bookmarks, logins and passwords in Chrome?' you would get many answers, just like this one https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/chrome/inEvyXAFD2Y and you can back them up before doing an uninstall and reinstall of Chrome.
If you weren't backing up any of your data (in web browsers or the computer itself) before - in this kind of scenario or 100s of other scenarios - in cases where data is lost for good if you don't, then maybe now is the time for you to give it some attention.
