I am using an ASUS laptop with 64-bit windows 10 os and the main browser that I use is Firefox. The issue that I have been dealing with is this, I have the newest version of OpenOffice (4.1.3) and I do not know if this is part of the program now or what but every time I attempt to open a saved document I have a pop up that comes up on my desktop after the OpenOffice loading box goes away that give me the option to either open the document as a "read-only" or open it as a copy, the only other option on that window is to cancel. Additionally if I choose to use the copy option to open the document and I try to save it with a title it will not work, I know that for pretty much as long as I have been using OpenOffice I have not had this problem, until recently that is. So any help on this would be appreciated if there is anything that can be done so I can save and open documents easily again.

Check the document protection settings which may inadvertently have been turned on.

Where would I look for that setting to turn it off?

I haven't looked at OpenOffice in years.
Look for anything related to Security or Protection.
If you're unsure what to change, take a screenshot and post it.

You could also check if the document is already open - I know that sounds strange, but I have seen this happen in Microsoft word, and found that somehow the document was already open/not properly closed. I closed everything, checked my word list of previous documents.
-Like Eldon, I have not used open office for years, but that was what I found on the similar problem in Microsoft Office.
Sometimes re-installing the program can help, too.

Thank you both for the help I ended up just uninstalling and re-installing the program and so far no issues.
