12.PNG I tried to image my hdd using Macrium6 free . When I went to explore the Macrium image file it only included the d data drive, not my OS (C) and the other partitions on my hdd.

From the screen captures below, is there anything obvious that I may be doing wrong
(The target external backup drive is G.)

    Thanks for your help

You have checked your GPT Disk 2 for backup and I suspect that this should have been the destination drive for your backup. GPT Disk 1 is your source and Disk 2 is your destination. In my opinion you should not have included this disk in the backup.

It appears to me that you have included the destination disk 2 in your back-up. Disk 1 is the source and disk 2 is the destination.

Am somewhat confused ...I have both an SSD drive and a regular HDD with my data files. Should separate images be backed up of each drive so I would have two separate back up image files which could then be restored individually if needed?

Your destination drive is G:, not GPT Disk 2 D:, but G: is not visible in your screenshot so we don't know anything about it. What is it?

I use Macrium but have never tried backing up from two separate disks in the same backup. I would, as you have suggested yourself, backup each drive separately but check that drive G: is available as destination and has sufficient space available.

So after backing up the SSD OS C drive and the D Data drives separately the two image files could be restored separately to their respective drives.

The G drive was the external WD passport drive I use for backups

Yes, each drive can be restored individually. In fact any of the individual partitions on GPT Disk 1 can be restored individually too.

I have an external drive that I use for backups and as has already been suggested I would make two backups one for your C: drive and one for your data drive. I have never attempted to back up two drives to one back-up , I am not sure but I don't think it can be done! (I may be wrong though but as you have discovered the result is far from satisfactory.)
