    As the title says.

I find life is getting dull and boring i turned 36 this month. And it seems i am getting sick of every one i know lol.Sad thing is i find that surfing the web is more fun than dealing with other people problems all the time.

It's not that i don't mind helping others. But when you get treated like crap at work all the time,Just for doing your job better than every one else.I find life sucks.Getting kinda tired of working for other morons that have know clue on what they are doing.

Tired of commuting back and forth to work dealing with A hole drivers all the time.

Some times i feel that this world has gone to pot.And will not go back.

If you look back in time ok compare it to day life is hell.

If you go back around the 70's and 80's things where so much simpler and easy. And most of us did have really good paying jobs. And hardly got any shit from any body and most people in them days gave two sh$$ about any thing. Now it's nothing but chaos and dis harmony.

I remember back in the day,That most friends and family use to like one another. And treated every one equally.

Does that happen now hell no it don't.You eye ball the person next to you the wrong way and either you get a fist in the face or Cop's are called on you for no reason at all.

If you look around your surroundings a little and see this is happening the world has gone to POT really it has.It has nothing to do with trump. This has been happening since the 90's starting. And seems that most people did not care at that time.

I don't even understand this world any more. It's all about Greed and corruption.

That's probably because during the middle of the century, America was seeing prosperity. It didn't take two people to keep a roof over their heads. Slowly over time, corporations have taken over and the middle class no longer exists. People are upset and angry. Most people are struggling to survive.

    wile e coyote,
You are correct, life is getting much harder for the average working person!
As a tax payer the only way we can effect change is by how we vote. If you don't like what you see contact your various local and state officials and express your opinion. Vote for the candidate that will represent your interests. I'm a lot older than most of you, I'm 60. I am an optimist and believe that humanity is capable of greatness. It's up to us.

Agreed. The political system is indeed corrupt, but, it is all we have in a democratic society. Vote for someone who can help to remake society in a more positive light. I can appreciate and understand your cynicism and despair regarding the state of the union. I believe it can get better if citizens work for change.

Wile, you're too young to be thinking that way. You should be enjoying life to its fullest being in your prime. You should be enjoying the work you do. And yes, there will always be at least one a..hole in every job front, out "there" who spoils it. Thing to do is be indifferent to such negativity and just keep doing your best because that is what defines you. Other people's attitude is not your problem, it's theirs.

And remember, you're no Robinson Crusoe here, because we all go through these same feelings at different times in our lives and for different reasons. Thing is, (which seems what you're alluding here), what to do about it?

Personally, a game changer for me is to do volunteer work for those less fortunate than myself. It quickly shuts me up and I count my blessings. Those persons not only look to what they receive, but most of all, the look in their eyes at you for giving of yourself means a hell of a lot more. Because a contributing factor for them to have reached that stage is because no one cared. When you shift focus from yourself, you tend to forget your problems and things will soon resolve.

Well, that's what works for me.;)

I gain a lot of satisfaction working on a volunteer basis as a sponsor with several alcoholics and addicts in Alcoholics Anonymous. Helping others to recover from addiction is the greatest thing I've ever had the privilege of doing. I'm a recovering alcoholic; I've been sober since May 23, 2015. My life now has color, vitality, and hope.
I agree with legalsuit. Helping others is a game changer.

Societal ills come and go, like a pendulum. I've found the most important thing in life is family . . . as long as your family is safe and happy, to hell with the rest of the world. Yet we all still get in the doldrums at times, and that ebbs and flows as well - this will pass. When I get the blahs I immerse myself into some project or other, or like hitest and Legalsuit said, volunteer for some kind of community service. You help people in need and get to meet some really cool folks.

If you have none yet, I also recommend grandchildren. Never a dull moment around my house :)

That's not old . . . you just now got your engine broken in good!

I am going for my class B license in a week.

After a year of driving class B i might go for a class A truck diving. There is not really much difference in the two.If you drive school bus or a bus bus.You all ready have your Air Break endorsement which mean you would only have to take 2 test.

Going from a Class C again to class B has four test.

Life is what you make it. Period. It's not there to entertain you.

As my mom would say while we were growing up...only boring people are bored.

I'm 50 and would never say life is boring.

I would add to the other comments that if you are unhappy with your life you should make some changes. Start with small changes as this is not the time for big life changing decisions that you might regret later. The suggestion to volunteer is a good start. What volunteering does for you is take your focus off yourself. You will realize you have a lot to be thankful for when you see the problems others are dealing with. Sometimes when you make changes in your attitude and the way you look at things you start to see things and the people in your life differently also. Best wishes!

    Heed this advice!

The difficult part is finding a balance between what you like and what you can afford.
Make a short list of things you really like. Then go and visit some societies or clubs. Even if you don't join, you'll meet other people with other interests. Invite 1 or 2 for a barbecue.

Be selective whom you befriend. And no number of social networking / forum friends can replace a single true friend.

    You cannot predict the future.
You can only prepare... to a certain extent.
Don't wait until it's too late.

At least where I am there is plenty of prosperity, the problem is people want more than they can afford.
It doesn't take two incomes to live, but it takes two to have a new TV, car, house and all the monthly plans most people want. Our gardener is living well and pretty much like mid century. No TV, no internet, no cell phone, drives an old truck, etc. He's a well educated happy man, spends his time doing social services for the poor and needy.

People are angry because they are convinced they should have more than they can afford.

    Some people are like that.

    I am one of them.

I would rather not have a cell phone or a computer sorry to say.But now a days it's the norm now.The Less people have the better this world would most likely be better off.I don't like the idea of wanting more and more and more. That just turn's people sad angry people junk collectors,And people that are money grubbers.Don't get me wrong but the less i have the happier i am than most people.

I have a house that i have been remodeling on my own for the last two years.I paid my car in cash so no worries in bills on that or worry about being towed away.

I just don't like being a pack rat like some people are.I like to keep things simple as possible.I have zero items stored in my addict and very little in the basement due to the remodeling.Other than that i don't need much.

Every one is concerned about wanting about the next big thing. You know i am not. It's a phase this world is going through. These young kids now a days don't understand what this concept is.Do you really need a 100,000 dollar sports car may be and may be not.Sure there nice to look at and drive but.You will soon see that they are not worth the price you pay.

I mean this world is so far gone past crazy it's gone one step higher than crazy.

From what I've read of history, this country (U.S.) was ordained as an egalitarian experiment. To leave "nobility" behind, and create a fair and merit based society. I remember when you didn't need two overworked parents to put a roof over your children('s) head as well.

Times have changed and speculation and greed rule the day. The socioeconomic gap between the "rich" and the poor is at least as wide as it ever has been. The United States pretty much has the Gini coefficient of a third world country, as it were. Not necessarily led by a despot, but it's totally Lords and Serfs. Just picture a bigger picture bigger than a hay pile or a smith's shop. Daily life is the only real way to learn History.

A tighter labor compensation ratio drives GDP. It creates a "middle class". A progressive tax structure leads to a lower ratio. If you need a shining example of prosperity, look at the 50:1 society that paved our infrastructure post WWII. Now the ratio is at least 350:1 top to bottom. American infrastructure is in the toilet. The I-35 bridge should have been a wake up call. "Starving the beast" does not necessarily mean your "society". Things have changed, and not for the better.

We have a serious socioeconomic disparity problem in this nation.

P.S. And yes, i recall the "Invisible Poor".

No, there really is a HUGE difference Class B to class A. The B combination sizes are smaller, as well as GWVR. Driving a straight truck and a combination are two different animals. Class A is like kind of like Class B towing a 26' straight truck. For hundreds, of not thousands of miles....

I got to a point in my mid 40s when I thought the same as you (as some said you are too young but then are you more mature than others!), is it the grumpy old bastard phase!?
I agree the internet is an escape from the toils of modern life and OMG the issues we face daily, most are so petty you want to beat around the head the folk that are causing the simple to fix issues. In work tell me about it as I feel your pain on this, I get this weekly, the issue I have is change, no-one likes change in the industry I work, they fear it may give them extra work to do, when change may not, I have slowly changed some processes and with initial reluctance many have said it makes out life easier now. Sadly you have to battle and persevere through, not easy.

Ahhh driving, why I leave for work at 7am and finish work at 4pm to miss that, I do see a lot still though of bad driving and the ones doing the bad driving think they are in the right and give you abuse.

70s 80s had there issues and today its more so technology causing our issues 24/7 depressing news, nothing nice and uplifting. We could or kids could play outside without fear of some freak, or for us too many cars or work vans in the streets to actually be able to play in the street as I did as a kid.

I agree with you in the issues coming to light now with "Sleazy-wood" [sic] etc that its starting to become a world in which everyone takes offence at what you say or do, said in work this week starting to be a time in which we cannot talk, look at or touch anyone for fear of its racist or sexual. Had a few cases in UK in which someone defended a friend in a bar or looked /said soming and next stabbed to death! really is this what we have become. Not out of the news weekly in UK of a acid (WHAT), stabbing, moped crime going on.

Who do we blame , can we do much about it no sadly, but the press and MSM are to blame for some of the issues we have they fuel the flames for issues that are not mainstream. We just are at a point all is going to go POP ! its an angry world, back 10yrs not so much as never seen such anger at everything as I do now.

    [/saturday weekend rant over]

    Great points David.

Re change - I find, regardless of what change there is, there will always be some push against it...so it falls down to how well an idea can be sold beforehand and how it can be implemented to minimise push against change.

Driving...I reckon there would have been some idiots on horses/horse and carriage that would have been reckless and caused some damage...but people really didn't know to grumble about it as we do nowadays...we've become rather "sophisticated" when it comes to complaining - and yes, today's technology can do a lot more damage and cost a lot more - particularly if one isn't insured!

As to level of sensitivity when it comes to taking offence. Political correctness has come about from claims of discrimination (e.g. Human Rights Commission outlines what defines discrimination) and I agree in some instances, it is taken to extreme by those who wrought the system (I know of someone who makes a living by being litigious in this respect...I walk on eggs around this particular person who actually considers me a friend(!?)

However, when it comes to racist and sexual offences. in certain instances there was a definite need for legal changes here so, there have been changes made here in Australia:
    • Age Discrimination Act 2004
    • Australian Human Rights Commission Act 1986
    • Disability Discrimination Act 1992
    • Racial Discrimination Act 1975
    • Sex Discrimination Act 1984.
Discrimination comes in different forms. I remember at a favourite beach I went to as a teenager, through to adolescent, there was a rough sign on a wall "Curb your Wog" - ("Wog" being a derogatory term for foreigner or immigrant or even someone who was Australian but of ethnic background - I actually made this spot my favourite as a rebellious act against its author - along with my mixed bag of friends - some also "pure" Aussies) .

As a female, there was (and still occurs) sexual harassment which before was difficult to deal with, but now women (and it extends to men also) can now push back.

So generally speaking, while there is a lot of political correctness now, it was pretty rough before so at least now, there is better control in place to minimise discrimination.

Bullying - that's gone on since time immemorial - now more sophisticated with cyber bullying - mainly by trolls who have nothing better to do with their time than to cowardly hide out there in cyber space and be general pests - allowing them ground only gives trolls strength - they are not to be tolerated.

I remember discipline from home and school which also taught respect for the individual. I can't see this being transmitted to kids now-a-days, instead, they have violent video games and given too many liberties - pretty much being desensitised so how can we expect respect where respect is due?

So yes, given how we have moved technologically, everything moves faster and the populace appears to have become desensitised - not caring as much for their neighbour, but more along the lines of "do unto your neighbour, before your neighbour does to you."

LS thanks but a one line reply would be nice as its Saturday and I cannot read much past 10 words without a bucket of cafffffine! hehehe

    In seriousness.

    1. agree its how you can package and pitch change as I work in UK NHS health it does not like change BUT as I'm out of industry I do, so in the 12yrs I have worked in NHS in our dept I find the Dr/Consultants receptive to change, I guess I'm lucky, so generally have idea, create a biz plan and outline, test it then pitch. In 99.9% of the time its implemented. In one random idea on going paperless as medical case notes nightmare to get info from, I created a database to store info (on secure NHS server) this not initially liked by some in admin who would really have to enter data to, however they always kept asking me what happend with patient X, we need Patient X's outcome etc, so electronically, save the basic data, attach the outcome form, saves 7 bits of paper and easily searched by Patient ID, after 2yrs running this the admins love it, the consultants do as well as we can search disease types, we have wrote one published paper http://bjo.bmj.com/content/101/10/1377.info due to the captured data so far with a follow up to come as well as easily the other week me being able to answer a difficult Q on timescales from referral to treatment.

I currently dealing with IT is updating and testing medical imaging software to make it run quicker to open a specific eye image an OCT-A was 5mins on Win 7 32bit, update in software and running 64bit Win7 its now 1min, with a test on Win10 this maybe better, doesnt sound much but 4mins in a clinic to open an image is alot and saves £££

DNA rates as 9% of total Px seen in NHS per year is bad and costs c£150 for each missed appointment, hence growing waiting times, we for my clinic introduced phoning patient with appointment time/date, OK longer to do but saves paper/postage and have reduced DNAs to <1% and avg is maybe 1 a month.

Driving you just have to think everyone's a nutter and will pull out on you so defensive driving attitude is a must.

I again agree in discrimination and racism its a grey area in many instances and its down to individual outlook. The law is clear but public and MSM perception is vastly out of kilter with the law, I just think comedy back in the 70.80s OMG that would give many a heart attach now a days, even the innuendo in "Are You Being Served" a ground-breaker in the area of gay innuendo, sexist jokes etc would not make the TV now, but was top TV back then as no-one took the jokes in seriousness, should they have, I don't know, I didn't.

Agree on both counts "me laud" I just guess its how far we take PC in life and at present I just feel its been taken to an extreme that it will make a mockery of legitimate cases, is a thing in which we can go to far.

Agree as I will always on bullying, although on social media its again taken to an extreme in that if you debate on a topic and disagree with someone when the lost the argument they accuse you of bullying or being a troll, those and the latter are used too easily. Many need to just block folk they dont agree with or just get off social media, I just always have a smile when read social media so called trolls when you rad the text you go HUH! its harmless disagreement (ok some will no t be) and wonder how they would have fared on IRC back in the day as basically twitter is a rip off of IRC, it was brutal at times but no-one scared and came back next day to debate other topics with same folk. The generalisation of "snowflakes" is at times apt as is "virtue signalling"

Times have changed indeed and in many respects for the better but some seem we are heading to dark ages! Do we know our neighbours, do we chat to them, would we do a favour for them, in past yes, now as you say likely no.

The world is changing and I've seen this on past 2-3yrs not for the better I believe, but a crunch point is coming better/worse who knows. I just know I find this forum and the members/friends a great place (sanctuary) to be able to chat and discuss (sometimes heated) topics and get a worldwide viewpoint.

Nah I agree with you on change, just highlighting a few examples of many I try to deliver change that I feel will be better for all, staff and patients alike. Oh I agree tech can be worse if you do not use it correctly, which is why we wrote that PCV paper as a test on specific nAMD (Wet AMD) is not routinely used if was it would pick up 22% more cases of this specific type nAMD which you may treat differently, hence save money and less invasive to patient. Although a new imaging machine that some think can do away with invasive tests as in FFA (angiograms) may not show us everything hence over or under treat. I'm also collating all images and eye disease types I see on this machine as need to know what the hell we looking at, we have a few projects to start to deep dive these.

Again change can be good or bad, but take homes is we need to try new ideas, never be afraid of the unknown or to speak up on an idea in your workplace as never know it maybe better.

Deep thoughts David and legalsuit! :) I agree with your thoughts on the change of society as a whole. Change, good or bad, begins within each of us as individuals accepting change of our own feelings, thoughts, ideas, or morals then filters out to society as a whole.
The changes we have seen in recent years happen gradually and barely noticed until we woke up and realized much of the change was not good for the betterment of mankind.
So if you want to see change in society you have to make changes within yourself!;)

Agree gradual changes have just suddenly in some areas sprung front and center, sad thing is hard to change many of these things without mass culture change. We will see and being deeper than deep here, a massive shift in next 2yrs will it be better, me things sadly no, we are at a point in which we are going to explode, be in culture, race, religion, politics, finance, life....

I kinda think we made Wile's thread even more dire!
