Can anybody out there help me and others with the same problem? My goal is:

    1. to sync some folders between my PC (Windows 10) and my Samsung Galaxy 4 by cable or WiFi (WITHOUT removing the SD-card and putting it into a card reader). "SyncFolders" will not accept the SD-card if the phone is connected to the PC by a cable, though I can see my phone (SD-card included) in Total Commander. Maybe due to different protocols, as far as I understand. I also use SyncFolders without any problems to back up the same folders to an external harddrive, as this makes it more reliable.

    2. to get instant access to my files on both units (i.e. keeping them in my own folders, not in a folder created by the program used, and be able to open and edit e.g. photos by programs choosen by me).

Have a look at these two articles.

I use MyPhoneExplorer and everything (even the Android OS) on my phone is on my PC.
You can choose between USB cable, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth to connect phone to PC.

I managed to connect my phone and my PC. I tried to sync my documents-folder, and it said "Calculating needed file transfer". After a moment a "Conformation for sync"screen appeared. Then I clicked OK, and the program crashed on the PC (Windows 10 professional). I tried it a couple of times with the same result. I also tried with some other folders instead to eliminate the possibility of some system files causing the problem. Then the program didn't necessarily crash, but in all cases I saw that no changes had taken place (I started deleting a few files and subfolders from the folders before syncing, but they were back after the "sync"). Could it be a firewall problem? How to make the settings there is Volapük for me

    Try MyPhoneExplorer.

Sorry, I forgot to write that MyPhoneExplorer was the one I tried. And everything went fine until I came to the "Confirmation for sync"-screen.

    Can you post a screenshot?

When I click Extras > Start Multi-sync all I get is this.

All my contacts and messages are synced OK. Only my folders and files won't sync (I have made a job called "test" which is my document-folder). I never tried "Start Multi-sync" before. Now I did, and it lookes like your screenshot, only it says "Sync files (test)" instead of "Sync photos". What I did yesterday was the following:
First I clicked "Files" in the left of the screenshot below. Then the third icon "Sync", and the "Please wait..." appeared.

In both cases there comes a message, something like this: The program found an error and shots down (my translation from danish). Then I can only click OK, and no sync of my files have taken place. By the way, my relevant folders (also my documents-folder "test" is on the SD-card on my phone. The first time I was prompted to get access, and with WiFi connected I can see the content in MyPhoneExplorer.

The last of the above screenshots shows "confirmation of sync". In the left half of the window there are a lot of files, of which some are my files and others are some unknown - advertisements??? For every file there are three options. I don't understand. Which do I choose? Could this be the key to make the program work properly?

    Sorry about this.
I have not used the 'sync' feature because I have no need for it.
Look in this folder. You'll find all the files that are on your phone.
    C:\Users\Your name\AppData\Roaming\MyPhoneExplorer
