Hi, I am trying to help my friend on his Dell Desktop Insparion Windows 10 Pro 64bit 4 gigs memory. I was trying to update his updates on OS but it keeps failing. I tried the troubleshooting updates it said it fixed issues but still updates fail.

I could use help at this point. Yikes what a mess!

Go to the search bar and type in Windows update. It will tell you if you are up to date. (Check for updates)

No every Update since he got his Dell desktop which is new which was about 6 months ago all updates Failed. I can send you a snap shot. I also ran the trouble shooter twice said it fixed it, it did not fix it. Trying to install a new printer and it won't install either.

Download Tweaking.com - Windows Repair Portable (not on your friends PC) and extract the files to a flash drive.

Restart your friend's PC in Safe Mode, plug in the flash drive and run the program.
Click Jump To Repairs > Preset: Windows Update > Start Repairs. See screenshots.
Restart the PC and and run the repairs again.

If this statement is correct then the sensible course of action is to return it to the supplier for repair, replacement or refund as it is still under warranty.

I agree with Earthling .... no point in trying to fix a system that is screwed. Take it back and get one that works.

Ok I can try this. I told my friend of his crazy situation so now he is going to try and get his son to send it back into Dell. It wont let me scan anything without an error message of failed attempts. Crazy!!

I just got 2 brand new machines - the first set of updates went off without a hitch, then one of them starting failing on the fall creators update, which is a rather large update, but on a fast machine, brand new with minimal changes, there was no reason it should keep failing. I tried a ton of things to get it working, but the thing that finally worked was the Windows Update Assistant:

I was tearing my hair out until this little thing fixed everything. I hope it helps you also.

Ok here is the verdict! I ran the Dells Diagnostic test and it said the Harddrive is defective and needs to be replaced. So there is the story. They need to take it in since it is under warranty. I knew there was a major problem because it had errors everywhere. Thanks all for trying to help I do really appreciate it. Have a Wonderful Christmas!
