I'm on an HP Envy touchsmart m7 J010DX.
Running Win 10 last upgrade/insider version possible

I've got several issues. One started with cooling fan giving out. So I replaced it.
At the same time, I upgraded to the newest Win10 insider version. (currently listing
Version 10.0.16299 Build 16299, so not sure where that stands now)

The upgrade deleted some of my software drivers, so I did a restore back to before I installed the upgrade. It failed during the uninstall and never finished.

Now I'm having issues with the new fan bringing my computer to a crawl when it runs. Nothing is overheating, so it's possible I didn't put enough thermal goop on the heatsink. Yesterday it ran a long time without stopping, even though there was nothing showing in task manager as sucking the CPU. Mind you, before this, I could have opened 50 browser windows, 2 graphics programs, sewing programs and cable tv and not have issues, but now the new Bing/Microsoft is causing Chrome to crash. (Reinstalled 3 times. No change.) As well as the above issues, and now showing low on memory errors too. I do have a lot of files and folders, but I wasn't getting these errors before the upgrade.

I don't have the money for a new external, so I was trying to clean out one that has double files in it, but it seemed like I wasn't going to get enough free space to back this computer up on it in case I needed to do a clean sweep. Not sure if a backup is possible in icloud? Not that familiar with the cloud stuff. Took me a while to trust it at all.

I have a sneaky suspicion I might have an intrusion...but not sure, so I did a Hijackthis log if you need it. The only thing showing up in malwarebytes (since deleted) and this Zemana I just downloaded, is "possible unwanted" junk and adware...but nothing malicious shows up.

Also, a while ago while searching through my windows explorer, I happened to pop into the network since I'm having problems there as well. I saw a version of an Alcatel smartphone listed. I've never had one of those, and have no idea why it was there, other than maybe my network has been hacked.
As quickly as I saw it I went to get a screen shot and it disappeared. I haven't seen it since.

I've checked all the "users" and I'm the only one listed, if that helps.

Thanks for any suggestions in advance and let me know if I need to get more information to you.

You seem to have both hardware and software issues. I doubt it is malware. Pick a forum to begin the search.

You have several missing dll's in that list.....
I would suggest running a file check/repair, and chkdsk
Click start, then right click Windows Powershell (Admin)
In the box that comes up, type in sfc /scannow , and click the enter button
Let this run, and do not stop the computer until it has finished- When it finishes , type in Exit, and press the enter button, again to close the Window.
Let us know if that sorts some of it out.
    Then you can
Click start, then right click Windows Powershell (Admin)
In the box that comes up, type in CHKDSK /R and click the enter button.
You may then be prompted to restart your computer for CHKDSK to run at startup.

Not all that familiar with networking issues, but does this indicate that a phone is accessing the network? I think the network window works similarly to the drives window in Windows Explorer (real time update). Asking for knowledge sake if nothing else. However, I suppose if someone had the key/password it would be easy enough to get into a network, especially if there isn't a system password or security is generally low for the network. If this is an Admin account that could be problematic, since a hacker can breeze through the system and do anything remotely with no stops...that is anything that doesn't trigger security.

A good firewall application might help you identify what is connecting to your network. Really curious though how someone could hack the network this way if that has happened.

Think I would leave the network window open and try to catch it happening again. Quickly look in task mgr to see if anything new is running if it does. I'd definitely be running a good security program that monitors command line usage and monitors for new executables (like NoVirusThanks EXE Radar Pro)...

Thanks for your post. I will try checking from time to time to make sure that phone doesn't show back up.
Yes, that was what I was hoping was not happening...that someone was accessing my network with their phone. I don't have a system password, but I do have a decent network password. Would love to change it, but the cable company put a new Arris modem on, which was supposed to have it's own wifi, but doesn't work, so I have to keep my own router on too. I think that might have something to do with my hardware not connecting through the network. Anyway, it's not as simple as changing my own password now. It's got a string of letters and numbers which is ridiculous on the Arris...then my password on my router.

I'm only at the beginning of fixing whatever went wrong with the Microsoft upgrade, so I have a lot of things to look into.

    Thanks again for your post.

I tried that tool but I actually prefer this
    http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/wireless_network_watcher.html
I use it all the time. In fact last night when I printer wasn't working I ran it and again today before I printed anything.

It is a lot more portable than the above and no password needed to unzip anything.

Ok, so I followed through on this and I'm doing better in that there are no software issues (that I have encountered yet), no more memory issues and I'm not totally shutting down when the fan runs now. That still seems to be something I need to look deeper into. Thanks for walking me through this part!

The internet went out again the other day and when tech support came out from the cable company, they switched that stupid modem out for the old one without the wifi. That has helped some in that my printer prints again, but I still have to tweeking to do with the software.

But today I found this and wondered if it's something I should be worried about? (file uploaded). This isn't the printer I use the most. I have an HP Laserjet Pro that is my main printer, but also the one giving me the network headaches. But I found this unknown account listed with a string of numbers. Is this something that normally shows up or should I be worried? This printer was also under the HP instant ink program until I told them to delete my account on it. I was paying for it but never printing on the thing. They of course told me it would render my printer useless and I'd have to go buy cartridges. But is this maybe related to that?

Thanks for that tidbit. When a new hard drive was installed, they put my first name as the computer name. I changed it to the name I normally use. I supposed that could be what happened...or could be this week while I am trying to fix a Microsoft update mess.
