Hi! I have WPS Writer on three computers and am wondering if there is an easy way to associate its documents to the app. If not, I can edit the system registry myself. I just need to know where to find the Writer logo icon.

Uhh...it didn't help. I voted it not helpful but couldn't say what I needed from the site due to a problem with the confirmation code. I just need to associate .wps files to WPS Office. Again I can associate the files myself but would rather have WPS Office do it for me.

It doesn't say how to associate .wps files to WPS Office. Again, I can do it myself if I have to but would rather have WPS Office do it automatically.

Try right-clicking a .wps file > Open with > Choose default program... and select WPS Writer.

Will that work? I right-clicked the WPS Writer short-cut on the desktop and clicked Properties and saw extra switches. I'll add the file class manually. :)

It works in all other Windows O.S. - don't forget to a tick in the box that says "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" and then click the Ok button.

I know that the short-cut is not a *.wps file. I as just seeing how to run the program. :x

BTW, the WPS program stated that it was not the default program on my Win10/64 laptop but not the WinXP computer at my day program. How do I get it to do that on WinXP?

In Windows XP you change the default program in Folder Options > File Types.

I should've mentioned this before: what I really want to do is add an entry for .wps files to the Shell New menu to my Template Creator program. As of now, the file type is associated to WPS Writer and appears to be registered properly, but the entry is not there. Following are two exports of the Registry entries:
    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.wps]
    @="KWPS.Document.9"
    "Content Type"="application/kswps"

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.wps\KWPS.Document.9]

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.wps\PersistentHandler]
    @="{098f2470-bae0-11cd-b579-08002b30bfeb}"
