Hmmm...take it one step further and post your email address on Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin....and if you want even more spam then visit some dating sites and leave your email address there as well....that should fill up your inbox with ads for viagra and cialis and then there are all the girls in your area just waiting to hook up ;)

Maybe you want to be notified about sales and special deals so you can sign up with several online marketing companies and make sure you check the box that says always keep me informed of future promotions.........

Nearly forgot.... there is a prince and a bank manager in Nigeria that have a multimillion $$$ deceased estate with no living relatives and they just need someone's bank details and they will transfer the funds and you get to keep 50% of the cash....good luck with this one

    I hope this helps :rolleyes:o_O

Get a Yahoo address - guaranteed daily spam in the spam folder
I keep getting the same ones: SimpliSafe home security, Schwan's home delivery, online universities, Canadian (usually misspelled Candian) pharmacies, ADT Security. for starters.

Of course the email addresses change every few days so when you block one, the spammers just create another.

I normally look at the subject just to be sure something wasn't dumped in there accidentally. They do that on occasion.

I keep getting Spam Text on my cell. The number and the offer keeps changing but the one consistent thing is they always start the spill by calling me Roaman(which of course not my name) like we are on a first name base.o_O Always offers that include giving me money or saving me money, HA!

OK.... this is serious. I got a spam email from a friend who I only interact with on FB. The spam has her name and a phony email address which goes back to Russia. <@mail.mipt.ru> We can't figure out how they spoofed her name. I have never sent her an email and there is no evidence that my FB page has been hacked. It's private, not open to public. Hummmm???

They phished her friends list which your on, and most likely because she either hasn't got her friends list hidden, they exposed another security flaw, or used social engineering enticing her to give it up!
Nothing to do with the security of your personal account.
You know to well that the weakest link in your own security, maybe a remote user who is connected to you somehow ;)
Edit: Oh, and she sent me your banking login details, but I laughed! :D

Crikey here was I thinking that I had missed out when I get this email today from Paul Agabi in Lagos..........seems legit...........

    Agabi and Associates.
    Solicitors and Advocates.
    5th floor, Unity House.
    Lagos.

    Dear Mr Joffa,

I am Mr. paul agabi, a Lawyer by profession. I am the personal attorney to Mr. Charles Joffa, a national of your country, who used to work with Chevron Oil Exploration Company in Nigeria, herein after shall be referred to as my client.

On the 21st of April 2011, my client, his wife and their onlye child were involved in a car accident along Lagos - Ibadan express road. All occupants of the vehicle unfortunately lost there lives.

Since then I have made several enquiries to your embassy to locate any of my clients extended relatives. This has proved unsuccessful. I came to know about you through an enquiry I was making in the internet, and I found out you shared the same surname with my client, which is why I have decided to contact you, in order to assist in repatriating the money and property left behind by my client before they get confiscated or declared unserviceable by the bank.

Particularly, in a local commercial bank here where the deceased had an account valued at about US$ 45.5 Million Dollars, has issued me a notice to provide the next of kin or have the account confisticated within the next ten official working days.

Since i have been unsuccessful in locating the relatives for over 7 years now I seek your consent to present you as the next of kin of the deceased since you have the same last name so that the proceeds of this account valued at US$45.5 Million Dollars can be paid to you and then you and me can share the money, on the ratio of 50% for me, and 50% for you.

I have all necessary legal documents that can be used to back up any claim we may make. All I require is your honest co-operation to enable us see this business through. I guarantee that this will be executed under a legitimate arrangement that will protect you from any breach of the law.

Please get in touch with me by email and send to me your telephone and fax numbers to enable us discuss further about the details of this transaction.

    Best regards, Mr. paul agabi.

    Yee ha!!!!!
I am going to get over US$22million.........I better send my details quick as I only have 10 days ;)

I saw this too but reckon scammers aren't so good at maths or maybe they think April 2011 to January 2018 is near enough to 7 years lolol

The thing that beggars belief is that any normal thinking person would truly believe that someone unknown to them them from Lagos, would hand over US22.5 million to a complete stranger in another country:rolleyes:

BTW my surname isn't joffa so they didn't even get that right and the email came in on one of my old anonymous email addresses.......

Still waiting for the Nigerian Prince to get back to me but he seems more interested in my sister at the moment.....................o_O:rolleyes:

Have you ever gotten the one that's suppose to be from you relative claiming to have been arrested in some other country and needing you to send money? First of all, my family is too poor to be traveling to another country. Second they'd know I don't have any money to send them.

  43. joffa

joffa Major Geek's Official Birthday Announcer

My brother got similar saying his daughter had been arrested for smuggling drugs into Kuala Lumpur and needed money for a lawyer. The problem was his daughter had a stopover in Kuala Lumpur that day and it seemed possible that it may be some customs misunderstanding. My brother is an air traffic controller and they have diplomatic links via hotlines to most embassies so he called the Australian embassy in Malaysia and discovered it was a hoax. The following day his daughter called him to say she had arrived safely in France after her stopover and there were no problems......whew ;)

WOW!!!! Good thing he had connections.

  45. joffa

joffa Major Geek's Official Birthday Announcer

    For sure.
Pity he wouldn't listen to his older brother in IT suggesting for years that he should have an anonymous private email address that doesn't include his real name and is not linked to his ISP account and when sending any personal documents, zip them up with a password for some protection ....... but that is another story........... this problem happened after his daughter had forwarded her Europe holiday travel itinerary to him by email just prior to leaving so the scammers had all the details to make it seem real ;)
The giveaway was the request for direct transfer of AU$2500 to some account number supposedly of a law firm in Malaysia that my brother couldn't verify as genuine hence he got on the hotline to the embassy who were very helpful.

    Apparently they do very well.....
This is the Australian Government Scam Watch Site and the results are for Australia which only has a population of about 24 million people so these figures would be much higher for the USA. This site allows you to drill down by month and year.
    https://www.scamwatch.gov.au/about-scamwatch/scam-statistics?scamid=all&date=2017

Not sure about accuracy of this site report but they reckon nearly US$13 billion in 2013 lost to Nigerian scams

Wow...that's crazy. I guess we joke about it, but people actually still fall for this stuff. My mom fell for a phone scam claiming she was going to be arrested because of failing to show up for jury duty so had to immediately pay a fine. They actually got her to go to a pharmacy and get a money transfer of $2000. They wouldn't let her get off the phone. She was so humiliated (and violated). She was not what you would ever think of as a gullible person either. Its mind boggling. After the fact, she of course thought of all the stuff about how stupid she was and what she should have done, but in the moment they really scared her. Turned out it was a prison scam.

Anyway...from joffa's graph...I get the investments scams, but the dating ones??

People, you have to be careful and not fall for crap via email.
Some time ago I got an email informing me I have to vacate my home within 2 weeks. It came from Perkins Coie, an international law firm with more than 1,000 lawyers. I contacted the firm and was replied to by a director that the company's email account had been hacked. Hacking the email account of a major law firm is to what length these scammers will go.

Would you mess with this company?
