    Windows 7 64 bit

I run Eusing Free Reg Cleaner as well as Free Windows Registry Repair. BOTH get stuck in:

    "Empty Registry Keys"

    Computer\Hkey_Users\S-1-5-21-2896351573-1439903457-3680831720-1000\software\classes\CLSID

    The programs both stall there.

    Try CCleaner.

You've had that key since 2015 (in fact the only hits I saw for that was here and at Bleeping Computer in 2015 both posts by you).
5th post here by you, the last four items in the registry, PUM which stands for Potentially unwanted modifications.

Have you run Malwarebytes ? If so, did it flag that PUM and quarantine it?

Perhaps these two programs (which I don't use) are balking at the attempt of deleting/repairing a legitimate registry key that belongs...

    Open the Registry Editor.
Expand HKEY_USERS, take a screenshot and upload it.

There is a problem uploading the file. It is 57 kb. It is JPG.

    All,

As an unwashed computer guy, I'd be better off if you could give me "Help For Dummies".

    Thanks all.

The file size is well within limits (4 MB).
    Ensure it's not greater than 800 x 600 pixels.

Click on (to expand) the key S-1-5-21-2896351573-1439903457-3680831720-1000

I run Malwarebytes every 2 weeks. Last time I ran it (2/11/18) it picked up a few PUPs, which I quarantined. No PUMs. have ever been detected by MB. I have never heard the term: PUM. Is it similar to a PUP?

Ran CCleaner and cleaned the registry only. Quite a lot of items found and deleted. No difference.............still get stalled in "empty keys".

Then I would suggest you uninstall the other two registry cleaners.

I have been using Eusing Registry Cleaner for many years now. It has only started acting this way for the last few months. I can simply uncheck the "empty keys" box in the cleaning options list. Only reason I'm concerned is because I don't know if there is a problem in the registry causing the stall.

I uninstalled/reinstalled ERC a couple weeks ago and that made no difference.

I doubt it is a problem in the registry. And you really do not need to clean it. I still suggest you use Revo Uninstaller to remove Eusing. If you really think you need it, reinstall and see if it still stalls.
