During the week I had for the first time installed a security app on my smart phone. My choice was Malwarebytes which gave my phone a clean bill of health.
Two days ago I received the regular newsletter from AV-Comparatives. More than 200 antimalware security apps were tested. And Malware bytes scored an unacceptable 87.2%. Most of the well-known vendors' apps scored 100%.
Anyone serious about Android security can download the full report over here.

Thanks Eldon. I guess I'll dump MBAM. My phone came with lookout that gets 93.9% and I installed ESET which is 100% so I guess I don't need MBAM.

It has now been removed from my 3 android devices. I'll will stop telling people to put it on android devices. Why waste storage space and get updates for something that is not effective?

I see the 3 big A companies: Avast, AVG and Avira all get 100%. I'll have to ask what people are using on their android devices.

Its the same old story guys......"I use avast, so far its been good"
    Why?
Because you havent got malware, and you think its avast that is your savior?
Because some test says they detect 100% of definitions?

I dont think you can base mobile device security, or any network device security, purely on how good the definition database of a particular software may be.
There are many layers to internet security and you, as a user, are the first of these layers.

No one mentions Malwarebytes ability to encrypt your device to keep data safe, nor its ability to help 'pipe' you through VPN.
Malwarebytes is as good as the rest, I dont need a review to tell me this!

Never said it was my savior just that so far I have not had any problems. Can't both be run compatibly?

Yeh mate true, maybe i was a bit harsh, but just wanted others to realize that we should be using other layers of security for our cells/tablets/or whatever, apart from a simple AV.
We should be securely encrypting our devices and also running through a trusted VPN as a minimum.

Im getting old, and i guess i have seen thousands of threads arguing what AV is best.......you wont go to far wrong with malwarebytes in any form and it upsets me seeing other geeks dumping it for what they perceive is better because of a test.....I reckon Mbam are already onto it, in order to improve their software

My bad.....soz for butting in on your thread Eldon as have always respected your opinion!

Good info @Eldon, I agree tests are one thing and user preference is another and TBH what anyone feels keeps them safe is good, I still have a Windows 10 phone (but the spare one, ok 2nd spare one) and have two Android phones both Sony a L1 and a XZ1 that come with AVG, it seems ok but as Replicator has mentioned if I have not got malware or noticed mobile malware then I will think my security in AVG is top notch, it likely is for me, but then as you mention Eldon/Replicator trying other apps out may just suit better as they may have better GUI or features.

I dont like the ads but its a free version so I know the need but if its keeping my phone safe then its a price to pay.

@Replicator I will on my L1 give MBAM a go as you mention it has options the others do not have as in VPN, I agree this these days is a possible must have option.
