Laptop Shuts Off Randomly(not Heat Related)

Hello Everyone, i have an HP dv5-1150us laptop, Note this only happens when the Battery Is Not Installed. I ran all test and it passed all and the temp is 42.
sometimes when i start it up it will keep shutting off around 3 or 4 times then it will work great for a couple of hours, but sometimes like lately 15 minutes. but the time really (i dont think) have anything to do with it, it is positively not over heating, because it never does in when the battery is in the laptop.
I tried a couple different outlets, but still does it, I was wondering if it could be the charger adapter. I held it up to my ear and there is suppose to be a solid steady streaming noise. but mine seems to have a slight surge sound to it once in awhile. Any ideas, anyone else ever have this problem? Thanks

 

Is there a reason why the battery is out.If it's the battery then i would suggest keeping it in for a few days.And see what happens.

I keep mine in at all times.

Are you getting any crash's or BOSD.

And what windows are you currently running.

And some laptops don't work well with out the battery in.

 

Hi I am using windows 10 and i get NO BSOD or Error messages and as mentioned it pass's all tests. I thought it was bad to keep a battery in to long after its fully charged?
I heard if they charger as a clicking sound to it when fully plugged in, the charger is bad, but mine only has a once in a while surge noise to it, could it still be the charger. is HP noted for this problem in there laptops? I would really like to be able to use it without the battery. Thanks

 

I would say it's the power supply failing.This would more like be a hardware issue sounds like.I would recommend on backing up any info you need on a portable 1 tb drive.

An no not normally.This is an issue.If the laptop is moved around a lot then yes it could causing an issue like this.

 

I currently have a HP and have had it for two years.The only problem i had with it at the time was the first hard drive that came with it.Windows 10 at that time bricked the drive so bad i could not even recover the sectors.Ever since i installed a SSD haven't had an issue.

This is not a normal issue.

 

What model HP do you have.We can do a search and see if any one else has this issue with that model.

Thank you for all the replies, I will receive a new charger adapter on Monday. Will let you all know how it turns out, i will want to run it for a day or two make sure it is fixed!

Ok, the problem is finally SOLVED it was the charger adapter. I bought a new one and got in last Friday, the laptop has not shut itself off since and i have been using it constantly. Thanks for all the replies, thought you all should know.
