    Hi
Currently experiencing a fairly slow laptop. I have turned off "Customer Experience Improvement Program" and Ccleaner @startup. I have attached a text file detailing startup items which number 4 - do I need these: Google Updater, Apoint Alps Electric Co, Microsoft Security Client or Realtech Semi Conductor?

Should I perhaps have some of these on?

    Thanks for any help.

    Windows 7 Home Premium
    Processor Intel Celeron 1.73GHz
    Installed Memory 2GB
    32 bit Operating System

I suggest you tell us the make and model of the computer and include how much ram is installed.

Is the slowness something new? You could check with crucial.com as to how much ram you can install. Your limit with 32bit is 4 gbs.

    Apoint https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/startups/Apoint.exe-315.html
only if you want the Alps touchpad to work.
Same with Realtek, only if you want to be able to control your audio.

Do you use MS Security Essentials? If so, keep that too.

As far as google, turn that off.

I see you have Java update turned off; you really should uninstall Java. If you do so, use something like Revo uninstaller and be prepared for thousands of registry entries. I never installed it on any of our four Windows 7 computers. I did have it on an XP computer. I uninstalled it almost four years ago and had 2,230 registry entries to remove.

Your running on the bear minimum for 7
If the OS has seen a few years of installs, uninstalls etc the registry will be running fat.
I dont think tis an issue with whats going on at startup.
If boot times are really slow, startup apps wont help, but once they load it should be running smooth unless its all too much for memory.

If you dont wish to upgrade hardware, back up what you need and format for a clean install of the OS, otherwise you most likely will be chasing your tail and not being able to bite it.

Good luck with the journey. I thought I would throw myself into the conversation.
If you can find a SSD sata drive everything will be smoother.

You could clone the drive or install on ssd and connect drives through a usb caddy.
    I have a neighbour running win 10 on a 32GB SSD.
