I have all ready talked about this issue.

This update is most likely going create a mess of an issue in windows 10.Some people may not have issues with it.But others will.

Did you create an iso file , or, download to a usb stick (over 8gb) ? The iso file would need a dual layer dvd.
If not I suggest you download either ,and save the iso. Then burn to disk, or, if downloaded to usb, just insert usb stick, and then run it as an update from the dvd you created, or, th usb stick you downloaded to.
I have sometimes found laptops/pc's differ when downloading, and a lot depends on your isp (internet service provider)
A poor isp can cause this problem, so that is why I suggested to download that way.
BUT AS WILE-E-COYATE, AND PLODR SAID FOR NON GEEKS- WAIT A LITTLE WHILE-IT IS BUGGY AND COULD MAKE YOUR COMPUTER CRASH. It does seem the way I suggested makes less problems.
Honestly, early updates can sometimes cause a lot of grief- It is not important to try it immediately it becomes available
Read these reports from majorgeeks own page on this present version 1803, as it is (give it a few weeks, and keep an eye on reports on it.

Well, that's twice this update has crashed my HP Pavilion DV7 laptop. Each time it took several reboots before getting stuck while loading Windows. I downloaded a program here on MG to stop Win10 from updating. At this point, I don't care if Win10 never updates again. I plan on leaving updates turned off, at least until the next major update.

I tried this on my one windows 10 machine which is up to date and the new files caused some of my programs to not respond even though set through the compatibility mode. Since I'm not interested in non-functioning programs that have worked for several previous versions of windows I uninstalled this update. I have read on several other tech pages that this update is not ready for prime time. It has several issues that need to be dealt with. In other words, be careful with this buggy update as it is no good in it's current condition. Glad I have windows 8.1. : )

I have installed this update thrice and although it initially works upon my 1st reboot it scans my disk and can not enter into the update...I tried to use all methods of recovery and the only way to get my system back up is to revert to old windows where the update all started. Then it ask me again if I want to update again.

Before you begin this upgrade, run two scans with Malwarebytes AdwCleaner and then perform the usual Backup. Experience of having done more than 50 of the upgrades is that PUPs will certainly cause some serious issues with this upgrade. Do not be surprised at what AdwCleaner finds. An alternative to AdwCleaner is to scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. (AdwCleaner is a faster solution...) If printer issues occur after the upgrade, Remove the device, reinstall it with the latest driver from the manufacturer's website. Manufacturers are not always forthcoming with the latest driver updates to Microsoft. If that is unpalatable, give the system 3 to 5 days and Windows 10 will install it automatically after the device has been removed.

Had to go the Microsoft Page just to get the update cause my windows 1709 was compleately updated.. Everyone else was getting the Update's ? but not mine so kept checking to if the updates where turned of windows Modual etc everything was turned on ...

But when i went to Microsoft web page all I was update
Or Install it to the USB-for another computer
I chose the second one and did the Instilation from that.
and it wasn't the same process as you normaly update as if you had gotten in you're windows update -

I don't have any of the features as Discribed by the windows beta testers plus files have like a Green leaf at the right side of them as when I click on taskmanager to keep turning cortanna off and few other apps I don't use.

    it say's it's windows 1803 Version 17134.1 <----

what got my I have a some fast computer but the Instillation time took almost 2 /hr's from Start to finish the Upgrade .

And None of the feature's as Discribed By the Windows Beta Tester's what so Ever .. and ver slow start up and i get a Back screen almost right before it come up to window sign-in Page then come up .

Microsoft was supposto fix all these Bug's this was the Delayed Release ... of it's update.
so they pushed it to the windows web site to get instead of waiting yea sure they didn't through the Buggy version up beging to wonder .............what the hell is Microosft doing..again ..

MS held it back because of a widespread BSOD issue but this has been fixed as of release. I've got it going on 2 systems at home (about to update #3) and 2 systems at work and so far so good.

Ya I am not having any problems with it, they delayed bringing out the upgrade because it had a virus in it, was suppose to come out April 10, Microsoft actually did the right thing in delaying the program as it would have caused a bunch of problems...

Sorry, it does seem strange, but it will not stop you downloading the iso file- I have found that it can depend on timeouts, when a download does not complete.I don't get it showing on mine, right now, but, I had decided to wait.
I did download it in iso form, though, when I answered your post, and it has downloaded , and I have it on usb to try on another haard drive (I tend to have hard drive copies, in case of problems, owing to traversing the web,and having to watch in case a bad link gets picked up, because sometimes a slight spelling mistake can take me to a dodgy site)
If you have the COA, then you can download on another laptop/computer and burn the iso as I said , and then use it to update yours.
If you decide you are going to do that, then be sure to set a system restore point, before you start,as sometimes the new version does not do it very well, and you have problems,if it gives you grief, and you want to restore to previous versions.

i use the mediacreationtool ver 1803
for an in place re installation, that is equal to use the iso burnt
and at the end of the update i always got a roll back to the previous 1709 vers

    I repeat
Not all PCs are compatible with the 1803 update.
Have you checked to see if your computer would accept 1803?
Just because you wish to install it, doesn't mean it is possible.

    I did see
which translated means it came with no operating system. So since Windows 10 did not come pre-installed, there is no way to know if Windows 10 works.

This might be the motherboard although it translates to mother card: mod. GA-Z97-HD3 Intel Z97 LGA1150

    Gigabyte motherboard
    https://www.gigabyte.com/us/Motherboard/GA-Z97-HD3-rev-10#ov

I'm not a hardware expert. I suggest you ask in the hardware section of this forum to see if Windows 10 1803 works on it.

Apart from seeing that antivirus software can interfere with this 1803 version, I would have considered your system ample.
I would cleanly uninstall any antivirus software (not Windows defender) before trying again-You can get avira, and avast McFee to get a cleanup tools at majorgeeks.com.
My other suggestion is to shrink the C:partition, and create another partition of , say,100gb, (assuming your computer has a large enough hard drive)
Then try a clean install on that new partition of the 1803 version. If it loads, and works O.K then you know your system is good, and you could copy data from your original partition,in case of problems.
Then, If you try updating the the original 1709 to 1803,with antivirus removed, and it does not work, then you know only a clean install will work.

i really do not have any other 3rd part antivirus or firewall..
you state that if i have win 10 1709 in my C\ and this partition is for ex 290gb i can create another partition for ex F\ of 100gb and install 1803 on it and have 2 win 10 one 1709 in C\
and other 1803 in F\ running..??

I have had a problem updating an old desktop and a lenovo laptop. The desktop didn't like the ISO method. The Laptop downloaded the 1803 update from Windows 10 update and had to be recovered to the 1709 previous version.
That said both machines successfully updated to 1803 from the Update Now link on the Download Windows 10 web page.

    Hope that helps,

@Earthling Where are we coming from ? We have a poster who is having problems installing W10 1803- He has paid for it and despite his problems, he really wants to try it ! IT IS A TEST-IF IT DOES NOT WORK ON THE SYSTEM, THEN JUST DELETE IT (FORMAT)-IF IT DOES WORK, THEN THE POSTER CAN SAVE ALL HE NEEDS FROM HIS ORIGINAL, AND CLEAN INSTALL!, AND FORMAT THE TEST PARTITION-BLIMEY , I would have thought all geeks would do similar.
Otherwise, If you have problems like this, I am sure Microsoft will not hammer you for trying to make their newest system work.
If you need to keep it 'legal', all you need to do is use something like Partition Magic to move the new partition to the original C:partition position, after testing
Just seen Stephen_16 post- newer version? worth a try, but also, sometimes re-download,in case the download itself is corupted.

I do understand the nuisance of reinstalling the OS.
The lenovo I mentioned above is a neighbour's laptop. It just didn't want to update. I was ready to swap the hard drive to second hand spare I had available to see if 1803 would install onto the machine. Ended up trying the UPDATE NOW link just in case it worked. It takes its time but ended up fully updating the system.

This appears to point to an overloaded page file, and I would suggest that you try increasing the size, before trying the update- clearing the page file involves registry tweak, and I think if you just increase it, before attempting the 1803 update, might help. Apparently, it can also show when an iso is corrupt
To find this- click on settings, advanced system settings (on left about halfway down that page)In the the Advanced tab -click on Settings .In the tab that appears, click the advanced tab, check the the programs part there is clicked on, then lower down on the right , click the change button. You should see the settings have a tick on the automatic 'let windows manage'...Click to custom, and you can change it- I would note what windows has allowed, so that you can set the minimum the same as it was, and then set the maximum as you wish. I have not needed to do this for ages, but, in the old days we used to set maximum to one and a half times the installed ram.
If you decide to try the second installation, 'test' as I said- , you can use the disk management console to shrink your C: partition - type in the search box
disk management, then click on disk management , to bring up console, right click on the C:partition- click shrink volume, next in that new volume, right click, and choose create simple volume.

    i have 8gb ram..
and my page file is set to 500mb min and max
i tried also increasing but is the same...
googling i see that lots of intel i5 has this update issue..
maybe the cpu of our pc is not compatible with this 1803..
so the only thing should be to have MS or Intel to solve it..
    i cross my fingers..

Before I nip out for half an hour- I should tell yo that it might be better (if you want to delete this partition later on) to use easuous to do the partitioning, as you can then slide any other partition that you already have after the C partition into the new partition space, and the new partition will be at the end of the hard drive (recovery partition ?) This is because, if you wish to delete that ne partition, it will be deletable at the end of the hard drive, but you may have difficulty, if it is before , say , your recovery partition.
If your ram is 8gb, and you click on custom, you should then be able to change both min and max to say 500mb min, and say 8gb max.

  42. p060477

  43. baklogic

    baklogic The Tinkerer

Did it do the same after a restart- a restart should help clear a bit.
If you want to try it on that other partition, then , as I said , if you have easeus ,then use it- But i should say , just to be sure, just shrink the C partition, but do not create a simple volume, until you move any recovery partition into the newly formed unallocated space.
