Hello. I've got a Dell laptop running Win.8 and using FF. I use a wireless mouse. I was posting and the letter "c" started repeating continuously. I shut it off and cleaned the keyboard and took the c cap off and put it back on. I turned it back on and any blank search box started repeating ccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccc. I restored my computer and the repeating stopped for about an hour, but then started again. I'm posting this using another computer. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Plug in an external USB keyboard and see if it does the same thing. If it works fine, your notebook keyboard is failing or a loose cable connection. Some disassembly will be required to check. If the cable is securely fastened, you will need a new keyboard - or just keep using the external.

If the same problem occurs with the external keyboard, I would scan for malware as a start.

Something important I forgot about, I use click-N-type virtual keyboard. The letters are lined up alphabetically, so I like to use it, using my wireless mouse. I'm using it on this computer. Thanks for your reply.

That's kind of a BIG thing to leave out!! So, let's start over. Does it happen when using the actual keyboard?

We're both adults, so I'll take that as constructive criticism. I don't use the computer keyboard unless it's something I can't do with the click-n-type. Thanks.

You failed to answer my question.

And knowing the answer is important. At this point, we STILL don't know the source of the problem. And now we learn there are even more variables involved. If it never happens with the actual keyboard, it could be a problem with your virtual keyboard software.

Or because now we know you use a virtual keyboard, which I assume needs you to click a mouse button to select a letter, that means it could be your mouse button sticking. So have you tried a different wireless mouse?

Yes, I tried a different mouse today with the same results. It's hard to describe what happens. I go to a page and the address block start flickering, if there's a block where you fill in info, it starts filling in cs continuously. I guess c must have been the letter I was using when it went haywire. I checked for malware and other problems, but nothing shows up. I can usually figure out things but this has me mystified. Thanks.

What program are you using when the "address block" starts flickering?

Ok...so now we have two problems? Have you tried uninstalling click and type, rebooting and re-installing it?

And we still have not seen an answer to your first question. :(

Forget it, I was looking for help, not smart answers.

Gee whiz, dude! What's your problem? You cannot expect "smart answers" if you refuse to help us define the problem! Knowing if the problem occurs when using an actual keyboard is critical to defining the problem and isolating it to the actual cause.

If you want help, you have to help us help you by answering our questions. We don't have the computer sitting on our desks, or we could press a damn key on the actual keyboard ourselves to see what happens.

    Good luck with your problem.
