A while back I post this question, and lost track of the thread I did it in. I now have some control of my finances. and would like to find where I can buy a license for my lappie? Thank you in advance.

You can get them as cheap as $20.

Newegg sells them, but the cost is pretty much on par with Windows 10. Pretty steep for an OS that will be unsupported in 2020.

I've yet to make the move to Windows 10 . . . been thinking about it of late.

Spad I would rather take windows 7 over windows 10.Due to the fact that windows 10 right now is having issues with the new spring update.

20 dollars is cheap.Compare to paying 200 dollars to windows 10.

I Had upgraded this lappie to Windoes11, and back stepped due to the driver not working, I am very cautious about spending money. This computer is a lifeline right now, and I get $100/ month allowance. $20 is not a small sum for me right now.

I've been hearing about that. Seems it has had more than one issue with updates. I've gotten used to Linux for office work, but for play I'm still a Windows man. I hope they get 10 squared away. I have had very little contact with it.

I spoke to an IT guy a while back who said you can download a copy of 10 from Microsoft and install it without activating it right away. He said it is fully functional but can't be personalized, and has a water-mark in the lower right hand corner. This way a person can check the OS out for a bit before deciding to keep it. I'm going to check with Microsoft to see if that is legit, and if it is I'll try it.

Ebay sells them also . . . I've seen a few for $24US with a 30 day return policy. Seems awfully cheap to me, but they've sold a ton of them.

I think on all Windows 7 builds if you right click "My Computer" and select "Properties" . . . it will open a System description page. Unless I am sadly mistaken there should be a shortcut on the lower right of the page for information about genuine MS software. There should be info there on how to activate it.

It's been so long since I've installed Win 7 I've actually forgotten . . . I think when you install it it asks for the key; but if you have an existing un-activated version there should be info about how to activate it as described above.
