    Hello
Of late my old gal has been running slowly. Ive run Malwarebytes, Virus Scans, updated my drivers (I use Driver Fusion for this), used CCleaner and Spybot Search and Destroy. Nothing pops up as being out of date, or infected with anything nasty.

Im now wondering if the sluggishness is caused by too many things running in the background. Im currently running Windows 64 bit and there seems to be a lot going on in the background all the time. And Im not sure what I can get rid of safely. Hoping you guys can help me out with that.

Im also including my dxdiag report. Heck, maybe its finally time to upgrade my Mobo and such.

    Thanks :)

I would recommend running check disk. You might have errors on the hard drive.Bad errors can cause a computer to run sluggish or slow.

    Open start menu.

Type command prompt or cmd for short.

Then right click and click on Run as Administrator.

While in command prompt Type chkdsk /f.

Check disk will ask you to dismount the drive on next reboot.Type Y for yes and press enter. And then exit command prompt and reboot.

Let it run through the steps as it needs.

    :) ok Mr Coyote
I let chkdsk/f do its thing no errors were noted to repaired.

Here some other things Ive noticed of late as well.
In the past Ive been able to load a game on one monitor while I browsed on my second screen with no problems. Not so much as a hiccup.
Not when a game loads everything else on the pc slows to a crawl. Movie stutters while streaming on second screen, or flat out just stops. Any browser searchs just spin and stall. Ive also noticed a weird flickering that effects both screens at the same time, but this doesnt happen all the time. And Im not sure whats causing it. (I did check that all my connects were nice and snug though)

I routinely dust my pc because my case is hella tiny. This time I unmounted the video card so that I could give it a good dusting. Im wondering if I should unmount my ram and reset it? Grasping at straws here :) As Im not sure what the matter is.

Which browser? I've found Chrome to be a complete hog when gaming.

This is weird your card is showing Native Mode: 1440 x 900(p) (59.887Hz).I have never seen a setting like this.

Your secondary or first monitor should both be set at 60Hz.This is your refresh rate by the way. This could be causing one of the problems.

I run into this type of problem with some games. Both of your monitors have to be set at 60hz.This is most likely causing the flickering issue with the screens. Not sure witch screen is the problem. But my guess would be the main screen or secondary screen.

Make sure you use the correct monitor refresh rate.

The current Hard drive you have is a Western Digital Green is a 1.5TB.

This kinda Hard drive is not ideal for gaming.In-fact doing some research with your model. You have a server hard drive. And in which case is mainly for servers. This is probably the big reason why you are running slow.Your current hard drive is only running at top speed of 7200 RPM.

I would recommend on defraging your hard drive. This could help with your slow performance. But only be a temporary fix.

And if you are planing on gaming i would recommend getting a SSD or Soild State Drive for short.

When I checked my advanced display setting about monitors showed a refresh rate of 60 hz
The Dell Monitor is a bit long in the tooth. For what ever reason they never updated the drivers for use with newer versions of windows. As a result Ive lost all my touch screen functionality, but otherwise its still kicking. I think :)

I will run defraggler tonight and let you know how that works for me. I have looked into buying an SSD drive but haven't done so because there's no room in the case to mount it properly and I'm not a fan of letting things just dangle in my case. I havent had too many problems with gaming in the past, but as tech surges forward I may have bit the bullet.

Im condisering purchasing a better case and transferingparts over as I slowly upgrade my rig.

    Thanks again

Firefox seems to be much friendlier, in terms of working while games are loading. I switched to Chrome because FF refused to work properly for me when I would try to port in for classwork. But there seems to have been updates, so maybe thats been corrected.
    *Fingers crossed*

Monitor 'drivers' (.inf files that can be easily read via Notepad) don't require updating like other hardware, they simply list the supported resolutions for size, frequency and colour depth.

Its the touch screen tools that they never updated. :) Thats what I was meaning when I said they didnt update the drivers. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Its ok on your home trusted network.......who would want to target you right?

?But those machines listed in your signature i would not be exposing to un-trusted networks!

I would also be worried about botnets seeking vulnerable OS installs whilst they are exposed online!
