    To start.

I need to figure out what is the best type of processor to go with.AMD or Intel.

I plan on building a strictly video gaming rig.

I need to start planing on parts.I think my build budget will be around 2,000.

I was reading up on intel and amd's new processors.

I know i want at least a 6 core processor or 8 core processor. Both AMD and Intel have both.I have used AMD for years due to they are cheaper then intel processors.

And what kinda L cache should i use.I am trying to build some thing that will last me years.Like the other desktop. That lasted me 17 years.

I am trying to eliminate as much bottleneck as possible.

First and foremost, this is NOT an attempt to talk you out of AMD. I just want you to consider this following, especially considering your very generous budget.

The processor is just one component in your system. Once you factor in the cost of the motherboard, RAM, graphics solution, case, power supply, drives, operating system and program licenses, monitor(s), etc., then factor in the expected lifespan of the computer, any extra cost for the CPU become negligible. The same argument applies to going SSD instead of hard drives.

With that nice budget, I would not buy a used processor.

I also would not step back in time and go with a platform that used DDR3. I would definitely go DDR4.

I never buy any thing used when it comes to computer parts or car parts.

I look and see if new stuff is on sale.

The one part out of every thing that is going to cost me the most is a new video card.I am looking to buy a 500 dollar card.6 or 8 GB video card.

Both FX-6300/8320 are old CPUs from a time where AMD was not very competitive.

However, this has changed with their new RYZEN processors based on the Zen architecture. For example, the AMD RYZEN 7 2700X with 8 Cores/16 Threads: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16819113499

That Processor is still new.So there are still bugs. Some people seem to be having problems with them.So i am not going to waste 330 dollars on one if it's causing problems.

    FYI it's unstable.

I would rather pick a CPU that is stable.

What problems? 2700X is already the second RYZEN generation.

I am using here in my workstation a RYZEN Threadripper 1920X 12-Core processor which based on the first RYZEN generation. No stability issues at all.

Ryzen has some real RAM compatibility issues.

That is causing stuff to crash after so long.

Ryzen had issues with memory back in March 2017 but a lot of these has been fixed with bios/uefi updates.

One difference with DDR4 memory is that it has a new feature called memory training. Basically, if you put in new memory, the machine is trying to determine the best settings (clock speed etc.) for the installed RAM modules. Earlier Ryzen system had issues with higher clocked memory and runs it with lower clock speed. There were no crashes but lower memory speed.

All motherboard vendors have compatibility lists for memory on their support pages. For example, here the list for Ryzen 2xxx on X470 Taichi:
    https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/X470 Taichi/index.asp#MemoryPR

Just buy the memory from this list and everything should be fine :). I am using on my machine even ECC memory (unbuffered) from Samsung: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=1WK-002G-00080

It took me over a year to cobble together my current rig looking for the best prices on hardware. Sometimes you just need to get started with what will work in the interim. It just depends on your budget, and how persistent you are in looking for the best price for what you want. I found my video card new for $250, but you'd be hard pressed to find those specs now for less than double the price.
