I have been trying to get rid of caffeine in my life.It does no good for you.

Ok i started this thing on Monday 20th.I have not had any soda / pop for over 6 day's now.

I really have not weighted my self as of yet.But i am pretty sure i lost a few pounds from not drinking pop all day.I have had some major Headaches Due to Caffeine withdrawal. Finally the headaches are slowly going away after 6 days.

This guy in the video below will change your mind about energy drinks and whats in them.

It's not the caffeine that makes you gain weight but the sugar.
So... are we discussing caffeine or sugar? Soda or energy drinks?

Of course it's the sugar. It stores in your body as fat.If you drink too much of it.

We are discussing both actually.Too much Caffeine can be bad for your liver.Of course most stuff is bad for your liver lol. What Doc is talking about is that the vitamins that are in the drinks.Really don't either do any thing or much of any thing. The thing that gives you the energy is Both Caffeine and sugar. You are only suppose to drink half a can per day.Which i figured that out years ago. Most energy drinks like Monster are 2 servings not one.And most people don't realize this. When they chug down the whole thing.

Our society's obsession out of cutting certain things completely out of their diet has actually reached the point where it's been termed as an eating disorder that some people have called Orthorexia.

Moderation is where you want to be...not completely cutting out 'things that are bad for you'. One or two cups of coffee in the morning isn't going to lead to anything. Just like a glass or 2 of wine isn't.

So nope...I won't be giving up my morning coffee.

In fact 1 to 2 cups coffee is suppose to be good for you. Of course the cup size is 6 oz. not 2 extra large 12 to 16 oz. mugs that lots of people use.
Everything in moderation! So I am guessing lack of moderation is the real problem.

I do enjoy my morning coffee and my mid morning coffee also.
In the afternoon I want a glass of Sweet Tea, a Coke Cola or maybe a Pepsi. I don't see me giving that up anytime soon. Living dangerously having sugar and caffeine! :p

It's the lowered carb intake that's behind your weight loss. I've cut back on the bread, pasta, starches and even more on the sugar and dropped pounds and I drink 4-6 a day. This reminds me of the movie popcorn, egg and saccharine scares. They were presented as poison until scientific research exonerated them.

Good on you in starting to remove or reduce a habbit in drinking and pop I dont do TBH the only fizzy thing I tend to drink is carbonated water, odd larger beer. I do drink coffeee like a trooper and its not weak coffee as many say to me in work, its strong as hell and black, BUT I do like and maybe something to try is White Tea as I find it more palatable than green tea but still good for you???!

Once you kick the suggary drinks and go tea, fruit herbal teas, water I think with some extra walking/excersise I think you will feel great, I have works carpark that 15mins walk from work and too and from is good daily excersise. I also think we need to not obsess overly with what is "bad" for us as some beer/wine/chocolate/takeaway if a treat and not every day is fine.

Let's just say i kicked it for 2 weeks and i tell you,I was a cranky bitch for 2 weeks. It's not good to make me angry. My mom found that one out Wednesday.I really hate showing my anger toward any one.

In all honesty it did nothing for me.But make me cranky. After drink soda / pop for 30 years.Your body gets use to it.

One thing i hated was the massive migraines it came with.

In the early 1990s I worked very long hours for a major Company's Research & Development department doing 80 plus hours a week. Between me and one of the senior engineers we drank about 80 cups of coffee every day. I used to drink 30 to 35 cups per day and Alf used to drink 40 to 50 cups per day. After a couple of years I started getting headaches and thought it might be eyestrain so I went and got my eyes tested and still had perfect vision so then went to the doctor. When the doc asked do I drink a lot of tea or coffee and I said I don't drink tea at all but I do drink lots of coffee. When told how much I was drinking he was very surprised that I didn't have the shakes as well as the headaches. He ran some toxicology tests and they came back with very elevated levels of caffeine and several markers that he said if continued would cause more problems later. He said I need o cut down slowly until I have no more that five cups per day although he said three cups per day if they were double shot espresso. The doc gave me some caffeine pills and suggested I immediately cut back to twelve cups per day and take three pills per day for the first week then two pills a day for the second week then one pill a day for the third week and after that the pills will run out. After I am stable on twelve cups a day I then needed to cut two cups a day for each subsequent week until I reached the target. It took me three months to reach the target but now I only have three cups of coffee per day and no more headaches.......

I don't drink any kind of ordinary tea as I don't like the after taste but I don't mind some of the fruit teas. If I have had my quota of coffee then I drink straight soda water which is straight carbonated water with no flavouring or sugar. If it is a really hot day which is common over here, I might have a squeeze of lemon or orange and a handful of ice blocks and this is really refeshing. The other thing we have is filtered water through our kitchen as well as a cold water/ice maker on our fridge and so fresh water is now cool to drink when I am home.
Hey Dave now that we have moved I am going to have to work out where I will walk the dog as the exercise is good for both of us..........Shiloh is still getting plenty of exercise running around in our huge backyard but I have been a bit slack
Good advice about not obsessing about things that are bad for you as with all things......moderation

Hey wile you need to cut back slowly.......if you go cold turkey you will have big problems with withdrawal. My coffee situation took three months to stabilise and for the first few weeks I was also on prescription caffeine pills.
Good luck and stick to cutting back as it will be better for you in the long run. A friend of mine that I have known for about 30 years used to drink a couple of litres of coke every day and by 50yo became a type 2 diabetic. His doc said that if he had cut back on the coke in his twenties or thirties then he wouldn't have diabetes now as he had an otherwise healthy lifestyle. Food for thought eh :rolleyes:
