    Dear Geeks,

My wife has a Lenovo Flex 2-14 with Win 10 Home edition installed in Russian. It came with Win 8 pre-installed from manufacturer and was upgraded free by Microsoft.

Now, my situation: I want to do a fresh install of Win 10 in English as I want to use the machine to host audio recording softwares only. My fear is that I will not be allowed to use the same activation key (which I have already discovered by using a CMD and saved to text file) for an English version. Also, I do not have a Win 10 disc.

I've checked on Microsoft FAQs and even tried their comedy AI live chat but not found anything specific to my situation.

Would anyone be able to give me some advice on this matter or perhaps point me in the right direction?

P.S. I'd really like to Dban the HD first but am afraid this will confound the situation further. Maybe would be wiser to simply rewrite and then use Ccleaner to scrub the free space. Any advice on this also welcome.

Much apprecated guys, thanks for reading!

    Liam.

I buy any needed Win10 home/pro keys here for $32.28 AUD, about $23 bucks US genuine!

They work well, I have purchased 3 that kick......just make a bootable USB of Win10 from here, easy!

    Thanks for the speedy response!

Does this mean that you think the product key for the OEM version of windows won't work on a fresh install of English language version? Why would I need to purchase a new key when I have one?

    Thanks again!

Windows licensing isn't the easiest subject to get your head around. Here's an article that the best I've read on the subject of OEM licences and which hopefully will demystify it for you.

Thanks for the reply Earthling. So, from what I've read, there ought to be no problem doing a fresh installation just as long as it is on the same hardware (which it is).

I'm just reading from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 and need some help understanding this:

"Language in Windows. You'll need to choose the same language when you install Windows 10. To see what language you're currently using, go to Time and language in PC settings or Region in Control Panel."

Why on Earth would I need to select the same language as I currently have? I'm a bit bewildered by this. I want to have an English version.

I understand I will have to purchase a new license as my current one is only good for Russian language. Question is, where do I download and create a bootable Win 10 USB in English if not at the above link?

I'm totally confused here. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for reading!
