Ccleaner Is Running When The Computer Starts

Even though that option is turned off in the settings. The last two times I've turned the computer on, CCleaner has come on with it. A couple of days ago, I opened CCleaner accidentally when I tried to empty the recycle bin but hit "Open CCleaner" by mistake, and then I couldn't exit it properly. It crashed so I had to force exit it with Task Manager. Could that be why it's coming on with the computer? How do I get it to stop when that option is already unchecked?

 

Open CCleaner > Tools > Startup.
Select the CCleaner entry and Disable it.
Don't delete it. Some applications will recreate a startup entry when the application is run or updated.

 

Seems it's already disabled there, anyway. For some reason, it was enabled in the startup tab of Task Manager. I've disabled it now and I'm gonna reboot.

 

If it doesn't work, have a look in Task Scheduler.
If there's an entry, disable it.

Piriform and it's owner Avast are becoming the kings of sneakiness.

 

Tweak all the CCleaner settings the way you want them then choose to save the settings in an .ini file, that should prevent your changes being changed.

 

Eldon went would you care to expand on your statement regarding Piriform? I have recently installed their Defraggler and your comment is somewhat disconcerting.

 

My comment applies only to CCleaner.

Sorry for taking so long to get back on this. Did mean to reboot immediately but ended up not turning the computer off until I went to bed. Turned it back on a few minutes ago and CCleaner didn't come on with it so hoping that'll be an end to it. Didn't know until now Avast had bought Piriform. I'll keep an eye out in case this happens again.
