    Greetings...
My Desktop runs 64 bit Win 10 pro. It used to run Windows XP 32 bit.
I am limited to 4GB of RAM.
I came across this Unlock up to 64GB of RAM on 32-bit Windows .

Do you think I should try running it from Windows 10 as if it were Windows 8.1?

    Might it be an answer?

The RAM limit for Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is 2 TB.

It is odd that what you say is true.
When I get scanned by crucial. I have a 4GB limit to my RAM.
It would be good to have more.

I have been running 64bit Pro Windows 10 on it for a couple of years.
It's great. But I am limited to RAM size as it is.

It could be a motherboard limitation (look at the specs) or a BIOS setting.

How much memory is installed? Does Windows actually say that you have only 4 gigs of memory?

The crucial scanning tool is not a good indicator. The Crucial scanner says on my Threadripper system that "Crucial currently does not have any compatible upgrades available for your particular system.". The system can handle up to 128GB unbuffered (ECC) memory, even from Crucial ;)

Yes this is restricted to 4GB RAM. The Motherboard is a 4Core1600-GLAN
Having come across the link in thread 1. I wondered if there was a process to use more RAM.

4GB. As it was when the machine was running 32bit XP.

    Best wishes,

The motherboard only supports 4 GB RAM.

    Thank you eldon,
Given that my first programmable system had a 16K memory pack addon. About £40 back in 1982.
I came across the above article and fell curious.
4GB of RAM is fine and I don't want to break a working system.

I thought a question on the MG Hardware forum.

    regards,

This is a hardware limitation. The memory controller can only address 4GB RAM: https://ark.intel.com/products/33041/Intel-82P31-Memory-Controller

The linked article is about a software limitation on 32-bit Windows installations.
