Recommendations For Free Youtube Download Program

I am fine with straightforward video download but it is downloading as MP3 I have problems with. I cannot seem to find a program that is GENUINELY free. Free as in not constantly nagging you to "upgrade".
All I want to do is download several dozen tunes to then transfer onto my iPad (I already have the means to transfer from PC to iPad.

Not sure what you mean by "meet the other party halfway". If something is advertised as Free but then you have to pay money to actually make use of it, then it is not Free at all. False advertising in my book. I am fine with paying for additional features, but being nagged to pay before I can use the "free" program at all seems like sharp practice.

 

I use the free version of EssentialPIM.
Every third time I run the program a splash screen prompts me to buy the Pro version. If I'm not happy with that, I should either buy the Pro version or find an alternative.

I've been using Video Download Helper for a few years now without problems on my Windows Vista and my Windows 10 systems. It's completely "free", so maybe you might wanna try that one...
