    Hi,
considering exchanging my 80 gb Intel SSD system drive for a larger new SSD. The 80 gb drive is almost full, a second 40 ssd drive serves as a second location for a number of programs as well. System also consists of three mechanical storage drives.

I am running Win 7 Pro. Will clean installing a purchased Win 10 + activation key interfere with having had Win 7 activated with my specific system chip or other part of the hardware?

Is it possible to activate Win 10 by using the Win 7 activation key?

I guess I'll disconnect all other drives from the system board, connect the new ssc, change bios to boot from bootable usb drive holding Win 10.

Do I have to format and partititon the new SSD?

    Thanks.

    From what i understand no.

You can do a clean install of windows and switch over to windows 10.But you will need to buy a license key.

If you are looking to exchange a 80 gig SSD for a bigger SSD.I would go with this one https://www.amazon.com/Kingston-Digital-2-5-Inch-SUV400S37-240G/dp/B01FJ4UL2S.

I use the same one in my desktop and laptop. The speeds are great.

Edit: and they are on sale for 20 dollars off right now lol.
