Yesterday, when I was breaking in a new tower *win 7 pro, I created the extra admin account - because, well, microsoft and lock outs

I intentionally set it up so there would be no log in screen and no password to log on to my own computer via the control panel - user accounts.

This morning, i turned the thing on and it's telling me that my blank space - no password field is wrong... for both accounts - which it is not.

so much for the second account..neither with a password *eye roll*

Might someone have a solution - besides linux.. ?

update.. still not able to log on but now I've tried using the command prompt - net user and control userpasswords2 and nope.. that does not work for me.
I get no input fields for either of those commands.

I was also just looking at this and wondering what the OP's problem actually is as my Win 7 VM also has two admin accounts, mine and the hidden one. Neither has a password and no problems.

This is where I get lost. You do not log in to another user account in Control Panel.

The OP's actual problem was not being able to log on to my own computer.

It was asking for a password where none was set up. I set up both my primary account and the back up admin account without passwords. When I came to the log on screen, a blank password field was an incorrect password.

Maybe I hit the space bar when it asked for a password while setting up the accounts.

that log on screen was not even supposed to be there.. the goal was to have the computer turn on and just come up to my desktop without the log on screen.. still working on that but I finally managed to reset the passwords to blanks

I set up the back up admin account via the control panel - probably unnecessary info.

My sentence structure yesterday was horrible.. the mild panic of not being able to use my computer got to me..sorry

Open Run, type netplwiz and click OK.
Uncheck 'Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer'. Click Apply > OK.
